There is no mistake about it. I was already walking away from the sniper back into my base for a good 2 seconds (eliminating the possibility of lag).
He hit me twice (I suppose in my ***) with very little damage, then offed the remaining ~80% of my health on the third shot, from directly behind.
Because I always approach snipers in Tank walking backwards (to eliminate the threat of a head shot), this has happened to me several times.

Some players can logically be hit in the head from behind, but Tank and Gunner are not among them.
    This should be fixed.

If a sniper with penetrating rounds can shoot through lines of bots, I think it could go through some pro armor.

Sniper passive level 2 adds bullet penetration, it's part of the skillset of a Sniper.

    Maybe he had that.
I have only played Sniper once and I forgot he had those types of bullets.

I usually reduced my jumping and dodging while facing away from Snipers because I believed they would not be able to hit my head, but now I remember they can get those armor-piercing rounds. I need to keep hopping while I walk backwards from now on.

Do you really walk backwards towards a Sniper?

Why not just Product Grenade stun then charge to get in close?

Well, to be fair, if bullets didn't penetrate the armour, that WOULD be a pretty epic way to 'walk' towards a sniper.

Yes I walk backward or at side angles where my head should be pretty hard to hit (being straight back to the Sniper makes it easy for him to visualize where your head would be, which is a problem if he has piercers).
It works until they upgrade to the armor-piercing rounds, though it still helps even then since they cant actually see your head.

I use product grenades too, and if they hit then I dont walk backwards. But most of the cases involve snipers on a ledge, where hitting them with a grenade means an actual body shot (which is rare) and I cant actually reach them anyway.

My goal is not actually to get to the Sniper and kill him, but to make leeway down the bot lanes they are camping (or in many cases just to get out of my base).
I keep an eye on the sniper using my Death Blossom as I kill bots, just catching glimpses of where he is,where the next wave of bots is, and if any other dangers are around such as his teammates.

Also, when I get caught in a Sniper trap and cant move, I simply face the other way and, keeping my back to him, keep turning my character to keep his head
    #1: moving
    #2: out of sight

I have never seen anyone else do this. If this catches on, please name it after me.

You already mentioned MJ, in reply to a post that said "Moonwalking," why mention the same damn thing in the same thread? What does that accomplish?

I got the joke. The first time. Don't make the same joke twice. In the same thread. 2 Posts away from the first time.

After reading this thread it makes me wish the Sniper didn't have his penetration bullets, or at least won't work against the Tank and Gunner. It would be awesome to see a bunch of them walk backwards towards snipers as a legitimate strategy :D

It would be really nice and justifiable to make Tank/Gunner armor stop penetrable bullets.
It provides a legitimate and even balanced way of dealing with camping snipers from across the map.

While walking backwards, you can't attack much of the enemy base, and Assassins have an easier time getting you from behind (pun intended).
That prevents the tactic from being overpowered, and makes it seem like a very fair way to deal with Snipers.

I swear I've shot tanks and gunners in the head through the back without penetrating rounds. But I could be wrong. Either way, every other class can see his head from 360 degrees, why shouldn't you be able to smoke a tanks or gunners head from 360 degrees. They've already gave heavy classes an advantage over the rest of the classes and you want to further the advantage? Just jump and jar around randomly. Even the best snipers in the world won't be able to track random patterns for at least a short time while you get out of line of sight.

Every class has an advantage over the other classes, so this point is moot. Besides, what can a Tank or Gunner do against a long-range Sniper? They are slow easy targets that die in one hit and have no way of attacking long-range, except for the rail-gun on the Tank which has no scope and does not kill in one shot.

Currently the only way to deal with a Sniper from across the map is to have a Sniper of your own who is also better.
Assassins can only help somewhat, since a Sniper across the map means inside his base and surrounded by turrets, teammates, and sniper traps. Even if she killed the Sniper, hear dead body would just leave behind speed boosters to help the rest of the team.

This technique provides an alternative, funny, and logical way of advancing against an over-powered Sniper, specifically when you dont have a better Sniper of your own, or when they have multiple Snipers.
There is no way to argue that this technique would be overpowered. It limits your attacking ability, and it wont actually get you to the Sniper himself. He will always be on a ledge.
If you get too close to the ledge he will be able to see your head from above and kill you.
Plus getting shot in the *** still does damage anyway. You would still die if you tried to abuse the technique.

So how could this possibly over-power a Tank or Gunner?
It simply allows them to make a little leeway and to provide limited cover for teammates.
It would heavily promote teamwork when a Tank or Gunner is providing cover for his teammates, and mind you that they still have to be careful of other threats around them, and move quickly enough not to get whittled down by *** shots.

It would be really nice to see this kind of coordination amongst team members, and to see what strategies and counter-strategies are developed through it.
It would also just be funny to see Tanks and Gunners bunny hopping backwards.
