I'm having a very hard time trying to load matches. Most the time they just take forever and the match has been going on for some time now, other times the game crashes and sometimes I just don't even have a problem at all even with a ton of planets. I read the sticky about options and stuff and so far my 4GB of RAM seem to be the problem, but at the same time a lot of people don't seem to have the same problem with the RAM. I upgraded my computer a ton a year ago and my friends and even a few other sites all agree that my specs are very good but I was hoping if maybe some people on here could also just give me another AOK so I can figure out exactly what the problem is and if I need to upgrade or replace anything. I hve 8g ram and a pretty cruddy emachine and a 9500gt nothing amazing. And I too get 2x longer loading screen than before. However, it does load in time even to do commentary on spawns. So it's probably just a weak area of the game generation in the new build. Dev's probably need to speed it up some.
yeah see, I don't even get to choose my spawn 90% of the time. Sometimes when I zoom out too it just f**ks up and also takes forever to load other planets.
Yeah, I have such problems, too,..4gb of RAM here, as well. Seems like we are below min spec Game runs mostly fine after loading, though.
It will probably be optimized to run with 4g ram. Loading time shouldn't cap ram, maximum planet size should cap ram. It used to be, if the planet was too big for your ram, it wouldn't load at all, simple as that. Now, you can load large enough planets but lack of ram interferes with loading speed. Either way, I am sure it isn't a problem here to stay.
Friend of mine used to wait for about 1,5 minutes to load a single 800 radius planet, that was when he was on 4GB ram, his CPU is an older quad core, your CPU should perform better than his. He upgraded to 8GB ram and that cut the loading time to about 20 seconds, which is still long but upping his memory gave him a good performance increase.
