Okay, we all know nothing can compare to the density and awesomeness of TA, even PA. I would like to clarify the reason this thread might just get taken down is that this could be technically advertising, albeit the fact that it would also be in the wrong place. There is still a way to play TA online. All you need is gameranger, which allows you to play countless games. If you don't have TA on your computer anymore- I would drop by this neat lil' website and nab it there along with CC and battle tactics. Next visit Game Ranger. The way this server is set up is that it is simulating playing on a LAN environment. You may need to port forward, the program has more info on that. Then let gameranger know you have TA on your computer. Guys, I know it sounds crazy, but I got TA to work perfectly on my: Windows 8.1 computer! Yipeee! Its possible! Please reply if I'll be able to see you there, because people still play this game on there.
Why would it get taken down? Plenty of people will want to know this, although I think most of us already did. The thread will probably just get moved to the Unrelated Discussion forum. *Edit* But yes radongog is right; If you want to buy TA you should get the GoG version. I have one of those and one original copy (Well, Commander Pack).
Total annihilation can still be bought on GOG.com, you shouldn´t link any non-legal download option! (I guess it´s non-legal as TA is no Abandonware!): http://www.gog.com/game/total_anihilation_commander_pack
I changed it, however, that website is a great place to get: extra maps, 3.1 update, core contingency, etc. Although I still do question what right gog.com has to sell the game.
Still play this all the time - no reason to remove this thread, though I note Colin just beat me to moving it to Unrelated Discussion
You don´t have to question this. It was on there before, Atari handed it in! And Wargaming just decided to let it up there when they aquired the rights on TA.
GoG is the ****, and so is Gameranger. I play Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on there every once in a while.
has anyone had any luck getting the community patch to work with the wine version for mac? (or linux, i have both)
I don't see many people on and those that I do see on kick me when I join their game. It would be nice to play some TA multiplayer. Add me on steam and we can organise it
The players that play ota on warzone won't let a new player join. Shame but a new or average skilled player will ruin a game for 7 others. If you want to play TA well then I would recommend TA esc. It's a much better game than TA and well balanced. Still has the TA feel too. But if you meet people here that wanna play that's cool too. I Havn't played too much over the last year but when I did I had picked up too many nasty habits from pa. So would take me too long to ltp at a high level again and then my pa would struggle.
