Two days ago I'm get new hardware with VT-d support and now I'm finally configured it. For a while I was wonder about PA performance difference between Linux and Windows and now I happy to present some results of testing I done in system editor.

    Tech details:
    So actual tests was:
    1. Celestial view centered on planet (after "close" pressed):
      Lin: 45-46 FPS
      Win: 46-47 FPS
    2. View on planet (after "edit planet" pressed):
      Lin: 43-44 FPS
      Win: 44 FPS
    3. Cursor moving fast over 3 top buttons ("preview all", "simulate", "clear system"):
      Lin: 26-27 FPS
      Win: 22-24 FPS
    4. Cursor moving fast on top of planet surface:
      Lin: 41-42 FPS
      Win: 44 FPS
    5. View on planet with "simulate" enabled:
      Lin: 43-44 FPS
      Win: 44-45 FPS
    6. Celestial view (after space bar pressed) with "simulate":
      Lin: 46-47 FPS
      Win: 47-48 FPS
Obviously gameplay performance might be different, but as far as I see Linux version have performance parity with Windows one on AMD proprietary drivers. I'll do in-game benchmarks after I find way to make those reproducible (at least in limited period of time).

Other interesting notice. First time I used Catalyst 13.12 on Windows and it's had worse performance than 14.3 Beta on Linux. So basically Catalyst 14.3 Beta clearly improve OpenGL performance a lot and give +2 +4 FPS improvement in those tests exclude one with cursor over UI.

Does the shadow setting have any effect for you in the system editor?

I set shadows to off and it still renders shadows in the editor but not in game during a match.

No idea actually, but I can say for sure both times I tested game after restart so at least AA option was ignored.

Interesting notice. Windows 8.1 + Catalyst 14.3 Beta performance in tests #2;3;4;5 is worse (-4FPS) than in Window 7 and in tests #1;6 (celestial view) it's just a bit worse (-1 FPS) than in Windows 7.

I installed windows 8.1 on my tablet and noticed performance on my whole system and in all my games seemed worse than in win 8.0
So i have reverted to using win 8.0 instead of 8.1
