Meant to post this sooner, just haven't been able to get to a computer in the last day or two. Basically, from what I tested with a friend, the sword boosts Assassin damage by 50% (compared to the same attacks using a dagger). However, the reload dash attack actually did 50% LESS damage when I tried it ~35 hours ago. This was in a private match just the two of us. We tried it against each other with and without Armor 3 endorsement against assassin and tank with the same result. Maybe this has been patched since then, just figured it should be reported if it was a bug.
I registered to make a topic about this, but search saves me the trouble, i can say that you can easily test that sword dash does less damage than dagger dash. Play a blitz game by yourself and on round 2 dagger dash a blackjack, you'll kill it in one hit, now before the rounds over upgrade to a sword and do it again on another blackjack, it'll be alive with like 10%~ hp left.
i've been exclusively using the dagger for a couple days now, and i gotta say i prefer it over the sword. Dagger Pros: crosswise melee easy to land, short quick lunge that evidently does more damage Dagger Cons: Less front grapple damage, Less damage to turrets and bots (its really noticeable) Sword Pros: More grapple damage, more damage to turrets and bots Sword Cons: horrible melee, i consistently melee things and do no damage. horrible lunge, i consistently lunge past people even when i hit them, its very disorienting. The lunge also has a delay on the melee swing resulting in a miss on a strafing target. Its sad that i prefer not to upgrade the only damage boosting skill assassins get. If i were forced to use the sword I'd quit playing assassin.
Hmmm gotta agree that the dagger is better, wich sucks alot actually because the sword looks awesome and kills bots better and makes the grapple damage generally more reliable.
Wow I tried the dash and you're totally right. That's terrible because I use the Shuriken Gun just as much as I use the sword and the loss of ammo will be tremendously painful to me.
The main issue mentioned is indeed unintended, the dagger should not be doing more damage than the sword in any situation. The other issues are more likely lag related rather than true differences between the two weapons. Even so, it's on our list of things to look in to.
<3 uber ent. i'd be happier with the sword lunge if it was just shorter and faster, and of course the bug fix.
upgrading the passive to level 2 gets you the ammo boost and you still use the dagger. even though i hate the sword i still often buy it for turret wrecking and money ball slicing.
