I was thinking of ways to make the Support better at what he does, and while my wife and I were playing a game the other day watching people build lazer blazers against a team of 4 tanks, I thought that it would be a great ability for supports (and supports only) to be able to change the type of turret that has been built. This of course would come with some type of cost in money or recharge, etc.

Anyway, I haven't thought it through completely, but I thought it might be worth discussing.

I don't know if you saw the thread before, but there was another idea that helped this same situation.

Only, it wasn't support specific. Players would be able to downgrade their turrets all teh way to the nub, and would receive a fraction of the money back.

    Whaddya think aboot that?

    Sounds like a grief-tastic proposal.

+1 as long your teammates cant downgrade your turreNtz.*Yeah! My Teammate just built an lvl 3 Rockit by himself! Lets downgrade it and then upgrade it so I get the money!*

Practically everything about turrents is ripe for griefing as it is, adding another possible method won't affect much. People can already build lazers or shave ice turrent on every nub or override a high-level hack with a lower-level one...I just think the idea of it being used as a griefing tool is minimal: if anything players would be more likely to take down their turrents simply for the cash.

EDIT: I'm not saying people absolutely wouldn't use such a thing to grief...I'm just saying that I think it'd be more likely they'd do such a thing out of greed rather than spite :D

That's not a bad idea, as long as only the original builder can take it down.

Edit: On second thought, the problem is that the people who build the stupid turrents are probably not going to unbuild them, so you'd have to let everyone do it, which wouldn't work, unless you charged them for doing it, rather than paying them. It would need to be something that was a tactical decision, rather than a profitable one (in the short term).

Something to this effect would also be very useful in blitz modes. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to rush through building turrets and accidentally built the wrong kind. And chances are, the bots will destroy every other turret on the map before they take out the one that you WANT them to take out...

Agreed. I still have teammates that build lazerblazers. All they do is make me die.

In my new apparent roll as antique thread historian i just want to recycle this idea that i liked once...

Any pro at any time should be able to build over any existing turret if there is a more expensive basic option and they are willing to pay the full price for the turret, the person who purchased the original turret receives shared assist credit.

Ie... Build over a $25 Lazer blazer with a $75 Longshot, build over that with a $100 ShavaIce then build over the ShaveIce with a $150 Rocket Turret. Once a turret is upgraded to level two its type is not changable.

WHY DOES EVERYONE CALL THEM "TURRENTS"?
