One thing that extremely important in strategy is hot-keys. That's obvious. But there is two big problems: 1) It's hard-to-impossible to make perfect hotkeys scheme for everyone. 2) With lot of functions it's really hard to remember all this hotkeys, and in most cases you have no time to practice in heat of battle. First problem solution is obvious: make them configurable! But then other problem arise - you still need good presets to quick start. Well, no problem with that too 1. All vital settings (like mouse controls and hotkeys) should be configurable and grouped into profiles. 2. There should be ability to make any reasonable profiles, save them, export and import them. So, alpha and beta testers will make your presets for you! You'll need to just watch for popular schemas posted (for that something like steam workshop or GPGNet vault would be just great) and integrate them into game. Ok, so what about second problem? We need tutorial for that! But not one of this useless tutorials like in SupCom FA, but something like mode in StarCraft 2, where you was forbidden to use conventional controls - _only_ hotkeys. I suggest making same thing - something like downscaled Galactic War version with infinite waves of enemies from outer screen, randomly spawned bases and so on, but with all icon-controls disabled, forcing you to use hotkeys. More time you've survived - more points achieved (maybe it would be worth to introduce special ladder for this). So, in short: 1) All mouse-controls (like which mouse button do what), all hotkeys should be configurable. Hotkeys for _any_ function, including future mods (maybe API should be made that way, so any function added would have hotkey-slot by default). 2) All this configuration should be grouped into different profiles, with ability to import and export them. 3) There should be special hotkeys-only tutorial, with some rewards for longer survive time.
