Some people first open Planetary Annihilation and see the "Armory" option on the main menu and open it expecting something there which isn't there (weapon load outs, unit load-outs, etc.), and this causes a negative response to the game and the in-game shop.

I suggest renaming that shop to "Commander Skins" with a mouse-over pop-up description of something like "Aesthetic skins for your Commander".

If you all add new things to the in-game shop which are not commander skins, you can rename it to something more appropriate at that point.

    Regards

Simple and logical. I like it.

I rather like that suggestion. First time I logged in and saw 'armory' I was all "Oh nice, they've set up an encyclopedia or tech tree progression or anything except a list of purely aesthetic changes"

Yes this is a very good suggestion. Should quell any misconceptions that micro transactions in PA are in any way related to Pay2Win.

The Armory really needs a lot of improvements honestly, for example spending 10-15$ with only a single picture(using a pose that won't actually be used in-game) is simply not properly indicative enough.

To be fair, you're buying a model that is almost never seen in normal gameplay, so do you really need to see more than that one picture?

So you're saying it's okay to spend 10-15$ sight-unseen in regards to the actual in-game visual impact?

If you have the money to burn, why not?

You see the model and that's literally all that changes between commanders in game, they share the same walking cycle (at least from what I've seen, there may be subtle differences) and pose in-game, so that picture is pretty sufficient.

That might be fine for those that don't put much value into thier money, or have it in sufficient abundance to not care, but what about everyone else?

If Uber is as confident about the pricing as they say they are they should have no qualms about properly showcasing the commanders. I wouldn't go as far to say that they are being dishonest here, but they aren't being as frank as they should be given the circumstances.

But all commanders are shown in a similar pose in the armoury, personally I see what you're saying as a slight insult to the intelligence of the consumer. Do you honestly think they couldn't work out the fact it doesn't actually go in such a relaxed pose, considering every free commander is in a similar pose, yet in game is very rigid?

Edit: This isn't to say I wouldn't want a whole 3D view thing, because I would, it's just that... People aren't as ignorant as you make it out to be- at least I hope not... o_O

The problem isn't that some commanders are being showcased differently, the problem is more so that they aren't being "accurately" showcased in a manner of saying.

As for the Consumer, yes, in general much of the consumer base for the gaming industry as a whole is pretty ignorant about a lot of things related to the industry itself and the act of making games. It's somehwat understandable because it's complex and fraught with all kinds of variations on the same thing but I think it's safe to say that as an industry Gaming has more than a few serious issues. Just think about all the horror stories you hear out of employees and downright inhuman business practices some companies enforce.

Things are getting better, more people are getting involved with the different processes and there are more resources openly available out there than ever, but at the same time the "educated" portion of the consumer base is still a small minority by far in my opinion.

The Steam forum continues to receive questions about the commanders in the Armory, and I believe this recommended change would help with that.

It would probably sell a lot more skins if you could see the commander nice and enlarged and be able to rotate it with the mouse and/or keys. Like click on comm, drag to spin it. That sort of thing. Sorry if I'm going slightly off topic.

+1 for renaming and +1 for 3D walking, rotating commander previews (see Airmech). I was trying to buy a commander last week and became frustrated at the lack of preview. As a result I could only convince myself to buy lowest price.

The rename would be fitting, but only if the idea to differentiate commanders in abilities is fully of the table. If it is going to include other, buyable stuff how about "vanity items"?

    Regarding a preview:
Afaik if you are not logged into PlayFab you can play with any commadner skin avalible for buying in the armory. Since you are only playing localy Uber does not care if you use a commadner you did not pay for. Now playing on thier servers you have to pay for that Skin ;)
Would help if there was a ingame way to log out of play fab account, of course.

Add a tab called "Purchasable Commanders" or whatever and make the commanders rotatable/animated. Also make sure all custom commanders have designed in collaboration with kickstarter backer on it if applicable.

Just call a duck a duck, and name it 'Purchasable DLC', or shop or something like that. It just seems shady to call a shop something else, like the intention is to purposefully blur the lines between gameplay and shopping. IAPs is another terrible mobile gaming practice that is not welcome at all in my PC games.
