There is one thing I have missed PA since TA and C&C Red Alert is the Lighting Base unit... I would like to see the Zeus K-Bot & Panther Tank unit from TA and the Tesla Coil from Red Alert. My Suggestion is a Lighting Defense Tower that has a Chain Lighting Effect. But have this tower as T2 to make more devastating as it has an area of effect style attack to take out hoards of T1 units attacking.
Definitely lighting... Eg SolarBeam that melts units instantly, but only when the sun is hitting that base/unit.
A light tower would be cool, reminds me of the searchlight towers from tiberian sun. I'm not that interested in a tesla coil type tower though. I'd rather a big cannon or something that shoots a perpetual stream of bullets.
I like that idea. It's should be easy because units already have day/night detection for headlights. But I think Uber need to implement Solar eclipse first, currently lighting system ignore moon completely and it's looks weird.
I thought we was talking about some kind of tower with a bunch of lights on it like the kind at a baseball field to help players see their bases better at night, or on dark planets or something. Or maybe a spotlight tower that could project its LoS as a circle away from itself to identify incoming radar blips, or scan for radar resistant units. Actually, I'd totally build spotlight towers, come to think of it... But light-N-ing units are neat, however they're just laser units with a different attack essentially. Neat, but not super interesting to me.
In all honesty I don't think any future tech would involve such barbaric techniques, it would be a colossal waste of power, as energy weapons such as lasers or beams would be much more efficient.
Yep, the two things I remember really fondly from C&C was the lightning towers, and the 'commando' unit who could shoot things at great distances and generally be a PITA for the enemy. On the original typo'd suggestion though, I hope we do end up with some lights on the buildings themselves, to create atmosphere particularly at night. Once the shaders darken night a bit more, that would be super impressive to see.
