I'm not sure how this will or could work, but something I think needs done about it. As much as the unbalanced teams are an issue, so is coming into a game that's almost in overtime and you pick a class and you still have only $300-$400 to spend.

If it's possible, maybe a "temporary" fund could be placed. It wouldn't affect the end-game earnings, however, it seems impossible to keep up with players that have tiered 3 skills.

    Anybody feel me?

They should at least get enough to max out a skill.

Most of the time when you join server, your team will be losing, go kill bots quick is a terrible suggestion when opposing team is overruning your base.

I like the idea. Too often have I joined a match, bought Gunner passive 2 only too hear: JACKBOT! Oh great, no moneys for dual minis and everybody else is already on his way to the juice machine.

They've stated before that they don't want to do this because it could be exploited. Join, build a turret, rejoin spawn a bunch of gapshots, rejoin buy more turrets, etc..

An idea I had is to add something like "Skill Tokens". When you join a game in progress, you get some number of Skill Tokens based on how long the game has been going. Skills would cost 1 Skill Token for the first upgrade and 2 for the second. They wouldn't be usable for anything else, so there would be no turret/bot buying exploits possible.

Skill Tokens could also be used to make switching classes mid-game more realistic. When switching classes, your skills could be turned into tokens, minus one or two to prevent frequent switching or exploits of the slight difference in value between tokens and cash.

^ That sounds like a good idea if that exploiting is true, which in pubs will be.

No it can't because if you rejoin, it could easily be coded into the system as such:

    if player hasNotRejoined = true
if player (ex: id = 0x0423427897) isLate, then give bonusmoney

to check if the player has not rejoined, then you need to keep a storage of all the player ids that have joined in each match. I'm sure there is a place in memory keeping this value somewhere in the game, so... not sure if what I said is possible or not.

edit: Not to say ur idea won't work. Your idea I suppose could work fine.
edit2: I know my idea sounds simple and it is, but programming it would be more difficult. I'm confident that these guys could pull it off if they chose to do it or not.

I've joined in matches half way in yet never felt like I was lacking money, more bots are around at that point of the match so just blow some up which is quite easy to do as all classes.

It's still something I feel that needs improved. Some players, especially new ones are completely useless depending how late in the game they join.

I for one am bumping this post. kinda stupid to only have 300-400 in your hand with like less then half the match left. If anything you just feel like a burden for the remainder of that match cause the players with 3/everything already just end up feeding off you.

Stick around, do work, get money, and wait until next map.

Where's the fun in that though? :-D Some players gonna be useless anyway, regardless if you gave them a million bucks. Still won't build/upgrade turrets. LOLZ.

Anyway, good idea, I support as long as it's not abused.

As soon as you can figure out how to stop someone from joining and leaving to build turrets, this will be implemented.

Scale by match length: default money for first 5 minutes then increase by 50 every minute after.

Yes, we get how to give the person extra money when they join late, but a problem arises when someone can leave, rejoin and have enough money for a level rockit turret.

I'm sure that could be easily worked out... whether or not they plan on doing it on their increasingly long list of stuff to be done, that's the only thing I'm wondering.

I'm sure they can get it done, but I hope it does get done; whatever they decide to do with this suggestion.

Um not sure why I or no one has thought to suggest this yet but-> have skills simply purchased for you? Like say there's 5 min left in the match or whatever, then when you join, the first class you pick to use will start with all skills upgraded to lvl 2? only a 600$ difference, and if you never actually receive the money then it can't be exploited.

This isn't verbatim mind you, just a new line of suggestion that can be tweaked or reiterated in some fashion until a balance is struck, so don't freak about the specifics I used.

Sorry, but I felt this needed bumped. I don't think I'll enjoy one match of coming in late in a game. Most of the time the reason why there's an open spot in a match is because a team is getting their ***-kicked and in order me to "save the day" I need to at least be caught up on the situation and have some starting money. It also depends how late in the game I'm joining.

As it is now, there's no point in me even TRYING to win a game that is already close to losing. It's a wasted effort, especially against veterans.
