I was watching some replay videos, and noticed how the bombers tend to overkill a single target when not microed, same goes for artillery, where dozens of shells land on the wreckage of the same tank, long after it died. Since this is a game where reducing micro is one of the aims, I think it would be nice if it had Ctrl+box multi target selection,(like homeworld) where players' units would choose a randoml targets within the bandboxed area, to distribute damage. What would be better yet is if several bombers or artillery automatically target different units near the unit they are ordered to attack with a single click, if overkill is expected, with perhaps double kicking to force all bombers and artillery to target the same unit.
temporary solution: take 10 bombers and number them 1-10, then proceed to select a target for each one. it would literally do like 10x the damage of just sending them at units. bombers used in this fashion would probably be OP. That is if the devs fix the target priority thing. My bombers tend to drop bombs on the first thing they fly over which is usually a wall. they the proceed to wait until theyre right over a field of AA to bank and turn lol
Have you ever Played the BlackOps:Unleashed Mod for SupCom:FA? In it we included a little snippet of code(source long forgotten sadly) for Target Splitting. How it worked was you could Take say 10 Bombers(But this worked for ANY attacking unit) and queue up 5 Targets, then you hit 'Shift+G' and it's split up the targets as evenly as possible, in this case 2 Bombers for every Target. This could be done without unselecting the Bombers(or whatever) and you could still issue other orders after you did the split, so you could do a move order to fall back or more attack orders. It was a little clunky in FA as you needed to manually queue all the attacks, but imagine if you had a tool like Paint attack from SupCom2 or some other kind of 'Area Attack' command? It'd be pretty swell. Mike
