Hello, If Uber Entertainment plans to implement massive units in the final release (or any update afterward), one of these units might be a gigantic, four-legged experimental unit with powerful weapons that can decimate swarms of weaker units. Stats: It will be heavily armored, heavily armed, and will cost massive amounts of resources and time, but once built, this unit will be more than capable of breaking a stalemate between heavily fortified players. This unit will hearken back to the days of Vanilla Supcom and Forged Alliance, where experimental units would crush entire armies of lower tech units. Additionally, it may be one of the primary counters to air spam if said unit was equipped with strong AA weapons. Designs: - This new unit could be based off of the giant Hierarchy walkers from Universe at War. - Or it could be based off of the Megalith Experimental Megabot from Supcom FA. Other: - As with the experimental units from Vanilla SC and FA, the new unit would shake the ground with every footstep. - A warning will appear to all players when the unit begins construction and another one will appear when construction is finished. The Way experimentals were handled in SupCom is one of the reasons the Devs weren't keen on doing them for PA, if you want to sell the idea you'll need more than that. You might also want to peruse this thread. Mike
Firstly, I'm all for leaving the game AS IS, and cracking down on the bugs, performance and balance. What we have now is really good. That being said, and I know this has been covered in another thread, the solutions for cracking a moon turtle are not elegant. Could the introduction of an experimental unit, built in a orbital gantry, that can be launched towards said turtle, be a solution?
maybe we could have a 1-use satellite that create's a no fly-zone for a small amount of time to counter bomber spam on occupied planets so that we can more easily establish a beach-head
That's just a band-aid, and a really arbitrary one at that. You're only going to fix the problem by.....Fixing the problem, you'll accomplish nothing by doing work arounds, we've already seen the kind of damage work arounds can do... Mike
