Stuck on Loading Screen and Option Issues

When I can't connect to a multiplayer game due to any issue, it displays the appropriate error message and then transitions into a loading screen that I can't escape from. I have to close the game through task manager and re-launch. Also, in the video section of the Options menu it doesn't remember my preferences for the Texture, World, and Shadow detail levels.
