I have the latest Steam version of PA, and when I run the game it displays in 50% resolution (1440x900), even though the setting is set to Native 100% (1080p). I'm definitely connected to a 1080p TV with HDMI.

Now here's the weird part. You can see the resolution is low because of the jaggies and pixelitus, but the resolution is correct in windowed mode (when the desktop is successfully displaying in 1080p). Switching to fullscreen immediately shows jaggies in the wrong resolution.

Changing the resolution in the settings and saving does nothing. The screen doesn't flicker to a new resolution, it just saves. Quitting and restarting the game doesn't help, nor does rebooting.

Does anyone have an idea of what's going on? This only happened after I set the resolution to 50% earlier, now it won't go back.

maybe some js error in the settings UI? maybe also related to mods that break something with it
    check the debugger for errors.

And if all else fails, just rename the Planetary Annihilation directory inside the Uber Entertainment directory and PA will generate a brand new one with every set to default. That will make you lose all your Galactic War and mods too of course.

Moving the "Uber Entertainment" directory erased the settings, but the game started up in 50% full screen, thinking it was native.

I had already looked through the SQLite JSON settings in my home directory before erasing, and it said it had "resolution scaling" set to "0", and such.

I'm trying the PTE now through the Uber launcher.

By the way, are you guys and Wondible the only ones on the forums these days?

It really is the transition from windowed to full screen that messes it up.

Windowed is native, full screen is instantly at 50% and looks like crap.

This wasn't happening when I was plugged in to another TV at my house. Rebooting doesn't help. I'm not sure what's going on here, this is so weird. I've never seen anything like since graphics libraries started running windowed in Windows 15 years ago.

I just downloaded the PTE with the Uber launcher and it does the same thing.

Well, the fact that removing the settings dir entirely didn't fix thing for you, means that there is some other program doing stuff to PA. Do you maybe have something set in the Cataclyst Control Centre of the NVidia settings panel, depending on what graphics card you have? As in custom rules for PA?

I just reset the settings for PA, and the latest version of "Thief" works fine in full screen.

So the weirdest solution came up.

When I plugged the computer in to a different monitor, it started working. When I plugged it back in to the TV that wasn't working, it was fine.

It was as if the different monitor fixed it for every monitor.

I switched from some TV at home to a Sony XBR55HX950, where the Sony was displaying the broken 50% resolution, then hooking it up to a Dell U2412M made it start working again on both the Dell and the Sony...

Well ok then... Weird, but glad it's working for you again.
