Even if we don't fund them I assume they'll still be making an appearance eventually right?

I presume so, the money going into the stretchgoals at the moment are from those who are pre-pre-purchasing. Once the game goes gold I'm guessing you will get a load more money from those who were either wary of supporting a kickstarter, those who did not know the kickstarter was happening, people who did not like the look of the visaulisation trailer but saw beta video and saw how much it kicks ***, and then obviously you a load more after that.

2 million $ wont make Uber rich if they develop PA. if they really make profit of the game will depend on the sales after release.
Of course not all devs want to get rich, maybe they are content to know they can work another year on a game with that money, but normally those guys have family and future plans too, so I assume they want to get some money out of it^^

If PA release fails in any way, which I dont think it will, but if, then I dont think we will see expansions or DLC. But if it doesnt fail I think we will.

Look at SMNC, even if its not that successfull ( I like it, but I hear a lot of opinions from friends about it, mostly "Its a shooter, I dont want to play shooter" from RTS guys and "Its a shooter with firing randomness, that doesnt require skill" from Shooter guys) its supported and patched and worked on.

2 mill basically means the company can remain to exist for 2 extra years, not that they are getting richer per se. Basically with the kickstarter, Uber is sure they can pay themselves for about about 1.5 year longer than they could before (at this point). At least that is how it works for most young companies. Unless they hire new employees, buy new equipment and so forth.

I am unsure though, if I would consider Uber to be a young company, as they already brought out games commercially and a lot of the team members are industry veterans.

Anyways, with their product funded and no oppressive publishers or anything, except the vocal community of course :p, they can now create the game relatively care-free.

About DLC/Expension packs, I don't expect anything beyond the reached stretch goals to be free after the release, except from sensible bugfixes/patches of course. Additional free content on top of that would be generous.
