Hey Everyone, I am Wazupwiop and I have been playing this game for about two weeks now, and I thought I would share my sniper method with many of you. I won't go into tooo many specifics, but you can change the details to suit your playing style. The main skill-related goal of any sniper is to get the exploding bullets in Lvl 3 passive. So, I typically upgrade my traps and my passive ability first. After killing off a few bots and pros, upgrade to level 3 in the passive skill trait. So far, this may sound like an ordinary tactic, but here is where is gets different. After upgrading, choose a location to defend. This location should have some places to build turrets, but it should also me frequently attacked by the other team. What I like to do is build rocket turrets everywhere I can, then I like to concentrate taking out enemy bots and pros. The turrets you build give you money, btw. If you get overrun (which you probably will), You need to throw out a trap and one of those exploding things. These will damage and possibly freeze the bots and pros while you retreat. As you are retreating, you will want to build more turrets, if possible. This is the basic outline of my strategy. What I like to do is push the bots and pros back, then set up a few more turrets and snipe a little. The turrets take the attention off of you, and players often expose themselves when they attack your turrets. Whenever you get juice, switch to your SMG and go frag some people. Just a tip: If you can get a headshot on an enemy, shoot them. Too many snipers fail to get headshots, and then get killed because the enemy finds out where they are and kills them. On some levels, snipers can see the enemy turrets. I like to attack those. Some people say that snipers are horrible at attacking turrets, but I think they are perfect, because you can hit the turrets, and they cannot hit you. You also get 25$ for a turret kill.
Welcome to the game. I'm glad you're enjoying it to the level you are, because you're clearly passionate about the game. You do seem to have a basic understanding of the game. However, and I mean this respectfully, nobody wants to read a strategy guide from someone with 2 weeks of experience. That said, some constructive criticism: Headshots: They are nice, but good players won't usually give you opportunities for them. Don't stress too hard to get them. Instead, take advantage of explosive rounds to hit crowds. You can even hit your own stuff to hit enemy stuff nearby. Turrets: There's a running gag here calling them turrents, because they don't often last. Build them only once you've really gained some control. Until then, upgrade your skills properly so you can be a better threat than any turret. You don't have to max out everything, just enough to be a strong map controller. For Sniper, this really depends on the situation. That's about it in general. Additionally, you need to make sure you can defend yourself from other classes, a tricky thing indeed. Ice traps are often ineffective against players who know how to avoid them. If you can stand against all threats, then the rest of the game will naturally go in your favor.
people dont call them turrents because of rent, people call them turrents because many people think thats actually what they are called.
I am going to respectfully disagree. I don't build turrets first. I wouldn't have posted this strategy unless I knew it worked. I do upgrade my abilities. I am able to take out just about any other class with a sniper. I like the turrets because if I am being pursued, I can have my turrets provide fire and kill my already damaged pursuer while I heal up. It works pretty well. Most games, depending on maps and etc., I will have 1-3 deaths, 5 turret kills, 10-15 pro kills, several assists, and at least $2700 (usually more). As for the spelling of turrets, I am new to this forum. And I believe that is is just pronounced wrong by most people.
The main problem I see with this strategy is that it mainly focuses on harassing the other team and keeping them out of your base, when what you want to be doing is pushing forward and forcing them back into their own base. Snipers that sit back in their base can rack up a nice kill/death ratio and do a little damage, but the real focus should be pushing forward and controlling the map. You can't win the game from your side of the map.
By building turrets and creating havoc (hehe), you can do some real damage and push forward at the same time. As a sniper, I prefer to stay a little farther away from combat. Keep this in mind. This is my strategy, it works pretty well for me.
The only turret that ever pushes back is a firebase. Turrets just help keep people out, but all turrets can be easily destroyed. I'll admit though, that I also have a tendency to stay at the base and not push with everyone else. Someone's gotta stay behind and babysit the turrets just in case someone manages to get in.
I used a similar strategy with a support class unit. Basically, I get as far across the map as I can, set up a defensive position, and move my position forward as my team mates and enemies allow. I get tons of kills by just keeping up the pressure in a contested area.
Yeah, I got steam rolled. I couldn't get a foothold. I was close to setting up, but then a gunner would get me right as I was finishing my turret build and he would destroy it. In a few other games, my team mates created a distraction while I pushed forward and got set up. I then tried playing as assault with Armor/Crit/Accuracy and Armor/Accuracy/Crit and started beating everyone down. I took out 3 assasins at one time with a charge. It was epic. As a sniper, I think it is important for one to have turrets because you can be surprised by gunners, tanks, and etc. Hopefully by time the opposing pros take a shot, they are damaged by a turret.
Yup. Unless you're on a sucky team, then that team is going to be doing a lot of pushing. Getting out of the base is probably going to get you nailed by firebases and gunners so the best thing you can do is defend. I was playing a game against monkeyboy and his tea, outnumbered us by 2 people (6 people on their team), and my team was filled with first time Assassins. I managed to go 50-11 and made the game last until the end of overtime.
