How can I set the actual distance when the distance option is selected for strategic icons? I want to see the units until I am zoomed out further than it does by default.
Hi you can't, not yet, as this is an unfinished game. I agree with you and the devs have said they have lots of ideas for icons including icon grouping, base naming and such.
Oooh, I hadn't heard mention of that before, but I quite like the idea of that. Could potentially be a great help to battlefield readability from afar. I wonder how it would make your sig look
Keyword is "ideas". this was a year ago now, icons are really the slowest part of the game in terms of progress. I wouldn't get my hopes up yet.
The icons appear and disappear based on a zoom percentage, which is based on the planet's radius. This means that on a tiny planet you would have to zoom very far in to get them disappear and on a large planet you would have to zoom very far out to get them appear. It shouldn't be like this. It should be based on a set distance from the surface. (with a possible option slider like you recommended.)
A slider is absolutely needed! I want to play without strategic icons as much as possible. They currently appear way too early (especially on small planets) when you are still able to properly see units without icons.
That is the thing that bugs me the most. And I believe many others are also bugged. It has been like this since the very first days of the alpha, with no change since then. Why, Uber? (Because it's not a priority? ) Because not enough people have given the necessary feedback and suggestions on this. This change is must. So please Uber.
UI options link I believe you have to go into the UI options page and have strategic icons set to always to have it visible for all ranges. I would give it a shot.
