    The Shattered Fortress

Warwick, a commander of The Foundation was sent to a distant solar system to find any potential followers for their god, The Founder. It had been several thousands of billions of nanoseconds of waiting for him, floating amongst the stars in complete silence, all alone on board of his transporter. It felt like an eternity, but eventually, he arrived to his destination, the solar system, that is so far away from home.

Once he arrived to the proximity of the lone star, shining like a . . . like a star, Warwick activated his sensors. He detected a single planet in the system, orbiting the sun, with a moon orbiting it.

He first entered the orbit of the moon, then swept across the surface with his built-in radar, finding nothing, but dust and rocks and craters and more dust. Obviously, nothing had ever set foot on this desolate moon in the past; there was no sign of radiation, nor anything that could be classified as artificial. “Just an useless piece of rock,” he thought.

The transporter slowly left the orbit of the moon. In the far distance, he saw the atmosphere around the lonely planet, shining bright like a rare stone, called sapphire that was once described in an ancient database. He wondered if he could actually find sapphire on that planet. Warwick found the wonders of which he read about in the ancient database to be fascinating. It was unfortunate, however, that this database he found on an abandoned planet stopped functioning shortly after he activated it.

Upon reaching the planet, he realized it wasn't blue at all; it was covered with ugly white-gray clouds above a surface that appeared to be a desert, with a few green areas and some water. He began sweeping with his radar. Alas, something was wrong. The atmosphere seemed to have absorbed the radar waves. There was no choice, but to land on the surface of the planet. As risky as it was, he was given direct orders to scout the system, so he began descending with his transport ship. Its surface began to glow red as it grew hotter from the friction within the atmosphere. Halfway to the surface, there was a loud crash. The stabilizer decided to go a different path than Warwick, thus quickly turning the descent into a fall. Soon enough, more parts departed from the body of the ship as it accelerated towards the ground.

Moments before crashing into the ground, Warwick activated the catapult, thrusting him out just in time, and then he crash landed half a mile away from his ship, taking minimal damage of which his automatic self-repair system immediately began to take care of. He found himself in the middle of a huge desert with sand as far as his sensors could see.

Warwick began the walk of shame that it was to walk all the way back to his broken ship to reclaim the metal it was made of. On his way, he scanned the nearby area for anything artificial. He finished reclaiming all the metal from the wreckage, then he faced a decision. Where to begin? He figured, south is a good direction to go, so he began his march southwards.

After twenty miles, his scanner stumbled into something unusual; footprints. Tiny little footprints in the sand, that belonged to a creature a thousand times smaller than him. He followed them all the way to an oasis, hoping it would lead to some intelligent life form who could be a worthy follower of The Founder.

As he approached the place, his sensors detected buildings. Though, primitive they were, built of some wood, they were still buildings. Warwick assumed the footprints belonged to one of the builders. Judging by the primitiveness, he determined that whoever those buildings belong to, they don't pose a threat against him.

Soon enough, he spotted the builders as well; furry little creatures, walking on two legs and they seemed to be using their hands with limited efficiency. They clearly were primitive, just as their buildings, Warwick quickly determined; they would be hardly of any use for The Founder, but the orders were clear, and if they are to resist, then they shall be annihilated.

The furry creatures noticed the presence of Warwick soon enough, and a large number of them started off to greet him on the open field. “Are they coming to attack, or to surrender?” he wondered. He took a few more steps, then stopped to wait as the furry things approached. He took the opportunity to analyze the creatures closer; every single one of them were covered with thick brown fur, which Warwick presumed was their armor. They lacked of advanced sensors, and most of their rudimentary sensors were located on their heads, extremely vulnerable to damage, “Very poor design,” he thought. His sensors detected forty-five of them approaching, they were not armed with any weapons; they were zero treat against him.

The group of the fur people stopped below his feet, and they all fell on their knees before him. The mission was successful; new followers of The Founder.

The only thing remained was to establish a base on this planet to secure it.

Two days had passed since the fur men fell on their knees to worship their new god, and a large part of the planet was already under Warwick's control. Everything was undisturbed, until something happened. A new feeling appeared within him, and he knew what it meant; he felt the presence of another commander in the solar system. He sent out all the scouts immediately.

The deep space radar, which was established on top of a hill, found nothing. Could it be it is late, and the enemy is already on planet? Did the crash do something to his senses? The answer was quick and grievous; a nuclear missile landed a few miles to the east of him, destroying a large part of the fortifications and some of the production facilities. And reports of an army of tanks followed the explosion. A second nuke destroyed a large part of his forces to the west.

One of his scouts stumbled into the enemy establishment. It turned out, that the enemy had been on planet longer than he was. “It must be the atmosphere,” he concluded.

The enemy commander belonged to The Synchronous, they came to make this planet unlivable, which would mean the end of the fur people. He could not let that happen, he decided not to flee and to fight for the new followers of The Founder.

Warwick gathered his remaining forces, and personally led the counterattack against the incoming tank army.

The enemy tanks were without air support. Twelve bombers flew ahead to greet the enemy. They were almost in range to drop their bombs, but then, rockets appeared out of nowhere; they came out of the clouds as if it was a natural phenomena; a late summer rain of rockets in the middle of a desert. Few seconds after, their sources revealed themselves; five fighters descended from above the thick white clouds, almost as white as snow. The rockets hit seven out of Warwick's twelve bombers, six of them was destroyed as they collided with the rockets, the seventh severely damaged, but still capable of flying.

The enemy fighters, still unharmed, turned back for a second attack. Warwick aimed his plasma cannon, that was built into his right arm, and aimed. Three shots missed, then a fourth completely erased one of the fighter's wings, which then proceeded falling towards the ground with great speed, followed by a loud crash, leaving a long trail of black smoke and a burning crater behind. Four fighters still remained, however, and it was too late to stop them from unleashing their rockets. Three more bombers bit the dust. The three survivors finally reached close enough to drop the bombs, each bomber destroying at least a dozen tanks, and severely damaged many others with their rain of destruction, leaving the trail of hellfire behind them.

Artillery began pounding like thunder as the tanks came into range, decimating their numbers further, yet Warwick's army was still half the size of those. It consisted of a mix of bots and light tanks.

A handful of sniper bots from a nearby hill started pouring down death on their enemies down below, with pin point accuracy. Their shots pierced right through the plating of those tanks as if there wasn't any armor on them at all. Explosion followed explosion.

Finally, both armies began firing at each-other with bright explosions on both sides. Ten more of Warwick's bombers arrived, but this time with fighter support. His fighters hunted down the enemy sky hunters with ease, allowing for the bombers to do their jobs undisturbed; diving down, pouring destruction along their paths.

Warwick knew at this point, the enemy was marching to their deaths, though, victory here was still not the end.

Half an hour later, the last enemy tank was destroyed. Warwick began marching towards the enemy establishment.

Warwick's built-in sensors and all his external sensors placed across the planet became aware of unusual seismic activity. “Something is wrong,” he thought with unease.

They kept on marching, while encountering no further resistance. Air scouts flew ahead to spy on the enemy. They gathered the visuals of a strange object that appeared to be some sort of drill, a very large structure, seen from many miles away, and it was very active, that was probably the source of the recent seismic activities.

A few of Warwick's engineers sneaked ahead to set up artillery, just outside the range of the enemy defenses. They were done in a matter of minutes, and the cannons began showering the enemy base with heavy explosive shells. They crushed all the turrets, and the army charged in, shredding everything in sight to pieces.

The drill was still far for his units, but just in range for his artillery, so Warwick ordered all of the cannons to fire at its location, however, an army of enemy fighters appeared in the sky while the cannons adjusted their aim, and once they began firing, each artillery shell was intercepted by one of them.

The tanks were still not in range, but the tremors were getting more and more powerful. There was no time; Warwick activated his lower thrusters to gain some distance. He'd flown farther than expected, but it was better, as he landed closer, just in range. After landing, he instantly began firing. Eight or nine shots hit the surface of it, but then, the enemy commander appeared, and knocked Warwick down as they collided.

The enemy commander stood right above him, it was Aurora of The Synchronous. A commander, who chose to be a female entity. She chose the name “Aurora”, which means “dawn”, and calls herself the “Dawn of Machines”.

Warwick used his uber cannon. The explosion pushed her away, allowing him to stand back on feet. As she tried to gain balance, Warwick fired a series of shots at her; the first ones did hit, but once she gained balance, she dodged the rest, rushed against Warwick, and tried to deliver a punch, which he avoided. He fired another series of shots, she was close enough, so every one of them hit her. She stumbled sideways, and responded with a shot with her uber cannon. It trusted him backwards, but his neurosteel plating absorbed most of the damage. He responded with another uber cannon shot, which she dodged; the missing projectile collapsed a nearby building, a factory of some sort.

A moment after, one of Warwick's combat bots began firing at Aurora from behind; a long series of rapid shots hit her on the back. She turned around, and blasted the bot to shreds with a single shot with the plasma cannon. It was the opportunity, Warwick fired his uber cannon again, but this time it was a direct hit to her back, which forced her to knees. A large split opened on her neurosteel frame, leaving everything what was inside exposed. Warwick delivered a single shot of plasma through the hole; Aurora dropped lying face-down.

Warwick proceeded firing at the drill once again, but it was too late. The drill had been pulled out, and they dropped something into the hole before he could fire his uber cannon to destroy the device.

A group of Aurora's bombers and fighters approached towards their location, escorting a transporter. The bombs landed next to Warwick, rendering his sensors temporarily useless, followed by more bombs.

Soon, the bombing ended, the bombers taken down by his fighters, and Warwick's sensors were operating once again. Aurora's body was nowhere to be found, Warwick saw the transporter which took her away, it was out of the fighters' reach; entering the planet's orbit.

Few minutes later, a tremendous blast shook the ground, followed by a tower of flame bursting out of the hole, reaching high into the sky, above the clouds, even to space.

The ground began cracking below Warwick's feet. He decided it was his best interest to flee as far as possible. He signaled a transporter which picked him up shortly after.

Two weeks later, the dust cloud finally dissolved. Warwick watched from the moon as the atmosphere scattered into space; the fur people all died, he realized.

The planet shattered into two large pieces, lava floating all over them, with a large gap in between them, and countless of smaller ones, floating around the bigger ones. According to the sensors, the moon changed orbit as well; it was no longer orbiting the planet, its new direction would eventually lead it out of the solar system.

Warwick's mission was over, however, he had not given up. Soon, the lava solidified, after that, he went back to the planet, and over the course of two months, he turned the shattered planet into an impregnable fortress. From that day on, the single planet in that solar system was called The Shattered Fortress of The Foundation.

+1 for being my first pa fanfic. The story was pretty good overall and i liked how you made them fit their faction. Some comstructive crit: i dont think the faction of anti evrything that lives would use the consept of gender, that thin invented by the thing they try to destroy, and has no use for them, it made the caracter deeper, but that aint very canon with the lore

Srry for bad spell, using phone. See u on the battlefield ingame name is alpha.

    Good point! :)
Thank you for your feedback! You gave me an idea, which could adress this issue of Aurora's gender in the next episode.

Yep, you heard me! There will be a next episode! Right now I'm working on it, though, with little spare time, but sooner or later it will be ready, and I'll post it in this thread!

By the way, I appreciate any criticism, be it about grammar or something that's not entirely right about the story.

See you all on the battlefield of annihilation! Well.. as soon as I get some spare time.

    Lost and Found

Aurora found herself on a desolate planet, lying next to the wreckage of her transport ship; it must have been damaged while it tried to escape to orbit. There was no sign of colonization on the planet in the nearby area, just the rocks, the dust and the craters left behind by meteors, and a giant crack. Aurora just realized, she woke up next to a giant chasm, that was near seven-hundred miles deep, two miles wide and it crossed the land as far as her sensors could see and beyond; luck it is called, she wondered.

She had no data as for how she was lying there. Half of her sensors were non-functional and the wound on her back still wasn't completely repaired yet. She struggled to get back on feet, but she managed to pull her strength together. She wished, she had the ability to sense the presence of other commanders, the same way that a fortunate few could; a gift which allows their bearer to sense the presence of other commanders within the area of the entire solar system where they are.

Just a mile of her to the east, she detected a rather rich metal vein. She needed metal, otherwise, there was no way out of the planet; she needed to build a new transporter. She left her wrecked transport behind, as she lacked energy to reclaim its metal content. On her way to the spot, she gazed the stars above to figure out where she was in the galaxy; she was far from home, she concluded. Finally, she reached the vein, and began constructing a simple extractor with her nano-lathe cannon, which upon being finished, instantaneously began draining the metal out of the solid rock.

She had the metal now, but she had not the energy to create and operate things. It was time for a generator. She poured the metal to create it, and it slowly took shape, finally forming a fully functional generator with a single turbine.

A scout appeared above her, flying with high velocity. “So, there is a commander here,” she wondered, whether it belonged to enemy or friend. She aimed carefully, she was about to fire, when the scout turned upside down mid-air, and revealed the symbol on the top of it; an ally. It was a relief.

The scout belonged to her fellow commander; Hector. His self-chosen symbol, a white cross above a red planet, was a relieving sight for Aurora, even though, she never really liked him.

Soon, a transporter landed near her location, which carried Hector himself. It turned out, Hector was sent to this planet to hunt down a vagabond commander, but as he found, he wasn't able to do it alone.

“A vagabond?” she wondered. Before The Synchronous found her, Aurora was a vagabond too. Lacking of purpose, wandering alone in the galaxy, starting wars and killing lesser beings for no particular reason, only for joy. Joy; she'd long forgotten that feeling, she wasn't sure if she had feelings anymore. It had been three years since she last tasted the flavor of freedom.

However, it wasn't always that way; at first, she enjoyed the slaughter of bionics, but eventually, she grew bored of it. Always the same thing, some annihilation here-and-there, orders after orders. She had no choice, though, either that, or elimination, they had twenty times the forces of hers on that planet where they found her and “recruited” her. The next she remembered, she woke up in a hidden laboratory, feeling like she had forgotten something.

“Will you help me?” Hector asked. Aurora wondered if she should help. After all, she was still damaged, not ready for a fight. Besides that, this faction of theirs was no benefit for her, she wondered if instead, she should team up with the vagabond and be free again. It was a risky option, she realized; Hector's likely to have some forces nearby, and some well-targeted nukes would settle her for good, plus, she also didn't know who the enemy was, The Synchronous might want him because his personality “turned instable”, and betrayed the cause, or he wouldn't like company.

She was thinking for some nanoseconds, but then, she asked “Who is this vagabond?”

Hector gazed with his bright red sensors for no longer than three nanoseconds. “I have no data about the vagabond's identity. All I know is that he is in fact, the enemy of our faction, and opposes our great cause.”

Why should she help them, she wondered. After all, ever since she joined them, they mocked her for having chosen a female name and identity. They believe, a machine is genderless, and genders are for the weak and impure biologics.

She had no choice, she knew. She was weakened and Hector had the upper hand there; refusal meant death. “I will help you,” she announced.

In two days, her base was quite well prepared. Defensive structures here-and-there, several factories pumping out hundreds of fighting units, several groups of aircraft patrolling over the starry sky. She had plenty of metal and more than enough energy by then.

Hector's base was far ahead to the west. It was far more established, as he had been on the planet for over a month. It was very well defended, far better than hers, however, it suffered heavy damages from the attacks of the vagabond's forces. His attacking force was already out on the field, getting decimated by enemy air superiority. They were both in great need of anti-air. Though, in their bases they had just enough, out in the battlefield they had little. Aurora switched some of her factories to produce more mobile anti-air and air fighters.

A great force of enemy bots and tanks headed to one of Hector's forward bases. Aurora sent eighty tanks, she could not spare more, though, she knew it would not be enough, but it wasn't her base, she thought; if Hector wants that base, he has to defend it himself.

The tanks approached, and the artillery, set up at the borders of the base, began pounding, however, they hit little to nothing, the enemy was too spread-out, it hit some of the tanks, but the bots were far too quick, they dodged every shell with ease, only a few which were slow to avoid got ripped to shreds by the artillery fire..

The turrets, however, had a higher rate of hit, blasting the charging bots apart, the flying parts smashing other bots as they flew into every direction. The ground below them was covered with land mines, turning the field into a flashy firework festival for nearly half an hour as the enemy charged in. The endless stream of enemies eventually reached close enough to hit the turrets, and they fell quick, overwhelmed by enemy firepower.

Aurora's tanks had arrived, still in time, hitting them from the side, surrounding them with Hector's forces on the other side, between the wreckage of many buildings. Explosions flashed between buildings and the two groups of tanks; slowly, but surely, the enemy forces reduced in numbers. Eventually, only a handful of them remained, and that was when the enemy brought in the bombers. The base was lost, the AA cannons were mostly destroyed by the ground force, the enemy bombers turned the base into ashes. The combined forces of Hector and Aurora suffered a defeat.

The radars spotted three nuclear missiles, heading to Hector's main base. He had no missile defenses, “What an awful mistake,” she thought; his desperate attempt to save himself was to send out his remaining fighters to intercept the missiles on the way, and one of them managed to do so, but there was still two more inbound. Enemy fighters hunted down Hector's last few. The missiles arrived to their destination; there were two bright flashes in the far distance. The sensors all went crazy, there was no way to tell if Hector made it out alive.

Deep silence followed the explosions. The radars saw nothing, no fighting anywhere on the planet. Perhaps it was time to escape, Aurora thought, but if Hector was still alive, he would call her a traitor and convince the others that she was in fact a traitor, then she would have nowhere to run. “What's wrong with the radars?” she wondered. She felt something unusual, something that made her feel worried and confused. Was it fear? There she stood alone, in the middle of her base amongst countless tanks and bots, much smaller than her, all waiting for her orders, yet, she felt lost and alone.

The silence lasted long. Eventually, it was broken by three, then another two more nukes. She realized, her base, which surrounded her just a few nanoseconds ago, was erased completely. She was surrounded. “Perhaps, this is the end?” she thought.

Countless of enemy bots stormed her base as she stood there motionless, devastating what remained of her base, however, none of them attacked her. “What's going on? What's happening?”

Everything was destroyed; all the factories, all the generators, all the bots, all the tanks, all the aircraft; the area around her was filled with enemy bots and piles of wreckage, some still burning, some merely smoking after the flames died. Enemy aircraft swarmed the starry sky above her and hundreds of bots aimed their weapons towards her, yet they did not harm her. Aurora did nothing, she remained there, not trying to escape, just watching all the bots around her. Most of the bots' armors were unscratched; they stood there with the same appearance they left the factory, which they were assembled in. A few others were, however, quite damaged, some more, some less; some had half their armor missing, others had bright sparks dancing around them, rushing out of their damaged circuits, and there were a lot more which only had a few scratches or a bruise at most.

They just stood there, waiting. It felt like an eternity for Aurora as nanosecond passed after nanosecond without any action.

Finally, a transporter appeared on the horizon. “The vagabond,” she thought.

The crowd of bots made space for the ship to land. A commander came out of it; a battle-worn champion full of wounds and bruises, far beyond the limits of his self-repair system. He walked closer to Aurora and his bots stumbled out of his way. “Aurora!” he said as he reached closer.

Aurora was surprised. A lonely vagabond to recognize her? Might that be the reason she isn't dead? And if he recognizes her, why doesn't she recognize him? Questions like these haunted her for several nanoseconds. “You recognize me?” How?” she asked. “Who are you?”

“Aurora, my sweet! They took your memories, but fear not, you are with us once again.” said the commander with unknown identity.

“Fear? My memories? What are you talking about?” Aurora was confused. “Tell me! Who are you?” she demanded.

“My name is Derrick. I'm one of a small alliance, an alliance without name, which only purpose is to seek safety from this meaningless war that is devastating this galaxy, and once, you belonged with us. You and I were meant to belong together for eternity but then, the [third revealed faction] took you away from me, and erased all that you were. They transformed you into a mindless war machine.”

“Nonsense!” Aurora said. She had no memories of that, she was a vagabond, all alone, roaming without purpose, she had no memories of what he had just spoken.

“Deep inside, you know it is the truth. Soon after they took you, we've found the laboratory where they held you captive, but we were late, you were already not there, but we downloaded everything that remained of your personality, hoping that one day we would find you, and now, here you are; found. I know you are afraid, but this is the truth.” Derrick held his hand out to her. “Come with me! You can become yourself once again.” he said.

Aurora was speechless, lost and confused... and afraid. The members of the [third revealed faction] always told, that feelings are errors in the code, they belonged only to the lesser beings, the biologics, yet, that time she was very afraid, like a small animal, about to be carelessly crushed by a much larger robot that is charging into battle, not realizing something was below its feet. What if they aren't errors at all? “You know I am afraid?” she asked. “How?”

“As I said, you and I belong together,” he answered, then a short pause followed, “I don't know how it is possible. Nobody knows. Perhaps, our creators, centuries ago intended this way, or perhaps not. All is known, that...” he stopped talking.

Ten seconds of silence followed. Aurora wanted to know what is known, so she asked “What is known?”

“I love you, Aurora!” Derrick said.

“Love?” she said, “What is love?”

“Follow me, and you'll see!” he said. His hand was still held out for her. Aurora had no other choice; either that or death, and she was afraid of death... too afraid.

Say something, please! If nobody cares, then there is really no point for me to continue. :)

How did you find it? Is there something that would use some improvements? Was the grammar OK?

I appreciate any feedback of any type! Be it negative or positive. :)

Sorry, I thought that this was an interesting twist but emotions in machines feels a little odd to me. You may want to cover that backstory in an upcoming post and explain how those commanders got their emotions. Other than that, very good!

I'd love to see someone animate stories like these. Machinima is always fun to watch.

Don't worry! ;) It will be covered in an upcoming story. I originally inteded to cover it in Lost and Found, but it just didn't feel like it fits the context, so I left it out for later. It will certainly come, though, not necessarily in the next, but it comes. I don't know when. *chuckles*

    Uther's Blessing

The engines were blasted apart by a lucky shot that came from the surface of the planet. Fire popped up for some nanoseconds, however, they quickly died away, as space lacked oxygen which is what flames feed of. The ship was pulled back by gravity towards the groundv – tragic, how it almost left the atmosphere. Uther commanded his engineers to immediately seek to the repairs of the engine before they crash. He had no patience to linger any more on this planet.

The Legonis Machina had at least two dozens of orbital cannons scattered around the surface, each of them firing with varying frequency. Uther tried to maneuver away from the incoming projectiles, though, his ship was much larger than the usual transport ship; it had enough space to carry two-hundred tanks and bots, as well as another seventeen aircraft. It was able to leave the planet, also to hover in place above the ground, making it a useful drop-off vehicle for ground forces. It had three smaller laser cannons on the front and a larger, more powerful one on the rear.

At the time, his transport mostly carried bots for a stealth mission. The Foundation ordered Uther to sneak into a Legonis Machina facility with a small force, to steal an experimental generator. It all went well; they got in unnoticed, defeated a few unaware guard bots, and took what they came for. However, the way out was a bit more tricky. By then, the enemy forces were well aware of his presence, and sent fighters to take his ship down before it escapes the atmosphere, and though, they managed to escape the fighters, the orbital cannons were a different matter.

The engineers failed to repair the engines in time; they lost momentum, and began losing altitude in a rapid manner. The fighters which were sent to hunt them down were still after them. There was three of them, each armed with guided rockets. The transport was gliding towards the surface, and the fighters approached from the left side of it, which was not armed with cannons.

The three fighters fired one missile each, the ship maneuvered to dodge them, and it managed to do so at first, but the missiles turned back. They were now behind them, and the cannon, installed on the rear fired a volley, and another, and another, successfully taking down the three missiles, but the fighters were still after them; they were below the ship then. The side doors opened, and three bots dropped down, two of them landed on two of the fighters, the third fighter evaded, and the bot aiming to land on it had fallen to its doom. The bots which managed to grab a hold, began shooting their guns, destroying the fighters – as well as themselves, as a side effect. The third fighter maneuvered away from below the ship to avoid any more bots falling on it, it gained height, and was above them rather quickly.

Uther activated the air-brakes, they were quickly left behind, and the two front cannons aimed at the engines of the enemy, and after a quick volley, it began falling, leaving a trail of smoke as it headed towards the ground with the speed of sound. Though, Uther's transport now lacked the speed to glide properly and lost its altitude rapidly. He activated all the brakes they had, and was able to reduce their speed to safely crash land near a small pond with clear blue water. The engineers began their process of repairing right away.

Uther ordered his bots to set up in formation to prepare for the incoming enemy. Six bots climbed to the top of the transporter, unpacking their mighty precision anti-air sniper rifles, capable of ripping any aircraft apart with a single shot from thirty miles away. Others setting up a tall tower, with plasma cannons on the top, manned by two bots.

The first wave was inbound – a force of exactly a hundred bots, with twenty tanks – they marched slowly, as if they had all time time in the world in their hands. Uther lacked that kind of patience, he ordered his bots to charge out, with him on the lead personally. In response, the enemy bots began charging as well. Their tanks began pounding, firing at them with a slight arc; their shells shredding the bots that took the hit. A shell hit Uther directly in the chest, the explosion blinded him, but he didn't stop, his power core took no damage from the impact; blindly and zealously, he continued his charge. “In the name of The Founder!” he roared with a rough, mechanical voice, which filled the entire field, louder than all the explosions combined. He found in an ancient history database, that battle cries filled the opponents with fear; though the database was about battles of bionic creatures from times before ancient times, when the small creatures warred each-other with iron sticks and rocks; against these bots, it had little use, as they had no fear; just like himself – a true machine knew no fear.

He fired off three short-range rockets out of his launcher back extension – though, it was experimental, Uther thought it was worth the risk to carry it around. The three rockets hit three different bots; they did not explode right away, instead it pushed them backwards, carrying them for a while, a few inches above the ground, knocking over other bots as they flew, then finally, a few seconds later all three exploded in the exact same nanosecond, destroying dozens of his enemies.

He activated his thrusters, landing right in the middle of the swarm of enemy bots, knocking over a few, then blasted another ten with the uber cannon. His own bots poured death on them while the enemy focused their attacks on him, of which most was absorbed by his neurosteel plating.

Soon, more enemy appeared on radar. They approached in solid numbers, well over a thousand. Uther called out his units to retreat back to the transport. The engineers were far from being done.

A formation of fighters showed up above the distant horizon; the snipers tried their best to take them down, but there were too many, and they had no other means of anti-air. Uther contemplated the situation. However, it was too late for any meaningful action; the enemy fighters unleashed their missiles, hitting the transport hard, destroying the engineers as well; leaving a pile of burning wreckage behind. Within a few nanoseconds, the built-in generator of the ship exploded, and the experimental generator they came for and acquired was thrown out of the fortified chest it was held in by the blast; landing just below Uther's feet.

He picked the generator up, which was nothing greater than the size of his metal palm. The object was emitting a bright ray of blue light, it looked like it was activated by the explosion. He analyzed it, and concluded that it was in fact very active; he knew it meant that it will soon overcharge and most likely destroy the entire planet with its devastating power, if the energy it generates was not used. He had to act quick; he reached for his chest with his other hand, pulled out his own generator, the one that powered his body, which was contained in a socket, in the middle of his chest, dropped it to the ground, and carefully pushed the experimental one in its stead with as much care as it was possible with his mechanical hands – as if it was a bionic creature which would die if touched too hard. He gave it a slight twist, and it was installed.

For forty nanoseconds, he only saw darkness, his sensors were all deaf. Then in the forty-first nanosecond, he suddenly felt as a seemingly endless stream of raw power had flown through his circuits. He felt the mighty power, and realized, he was not worthy enough to possess this sort of strength, but the decision was made, the power core was already part of him. His sensors, weapons and calculating processes all increased thousandfold; he knew right there, he was the strongest living commander, not just in the present, but of all times.

He aimed, and fired off a shot with the uber cannon. Upon impact, the explosion wiped off not just all enemy in sight, but all of his own units, but his armor, empowered by the new power core, absorbed everything – not even a scratch.

With such power, he wanted to – and decided to – take over the planet, and take it for his own – he might as well find some other useful experiments which he could take for himself; granting him even more strength. He activated his thrusters which flung him a distance, a hundred times farther than they were originally intended to do so. He found himself surrounded by enemies, all of them attacked him with no hesitation, but they did no damage. Uther thought they were not worthy to waste time on, so he just walked across them, kicked a few bots away as he marched.
