Hi, new player here, just bought the early alpha access on steam. When i click on "install" in the steam-client i go through the wizard as usual and the download takes around 1 second, then it says "finished". Afterwards when i click on "play" to start PA i get the message that the executable is missing Are the current steam-builds not linux-ready ? (they say the are on steam)
Yep, you can't link your Steam account to UberNet in current linux builds, so you need do that with your hands here: http://uberent.com/user/linksteam After you link your account re-login on forum and you will get access to special subforum: viewforum.php?f=73 And direct downloads with tar.bz2 archives: http://uberent.com/launcher/padownloads
Thanks for clearing that up i've managed to download the bz2 and have extracted it. When starting the screen it creates a black window without content and then nothing happens anymore. Any clues what i could try? First you need to check why your account doesn't have access to alpha forum. There is special subforum about Mac and Linux versions of game: viewforum.php?f=73 You need to link your Steam account and if you still haven't access to forum contact uber support: info@uberent.com. Are you sure you download latest version? Please get access to Linux alpha forums and then you can find solution to your problem here.
Yeah i'm using the latest version, i also have access to the alpha section allready. So perhaps a mod could/should move this topic there. I'm trying this out on a gentoo system and it just doesn't have a libudev.so.0 it only has: libudev.so.1 libudev.so.1.3.1 If i symlink libudev.so.1 --> libudev.so.0 AND run it as ROOT then it works when running it as a regular user i get the same blank/black window .... i probably know why: ldconfig is located in /sbin on gentoo normal users' env path has /sbin excluded and the call made by PA assumes its in the env-path
i've got it running as regular user at the moment. steps required in gentoo: ln -s libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0 (Do note that this could possibly fuckup your system | use at own risk!!) edit /etc/profile and add "/sbin" to the environment variables for regular users. logout->login start PA hope it helps someone to play NOW, and that there is a proper fix in future builds
You don't need to symlink it system-wide. You can only create symlink in PA folder. Steam sets LD_PRELOAD_PATH automatically
