Hi, Ive started a few games last couple days and ive had crashes about 5 minutes into it each time. Im using the same template with about 5 bodies each time vs. the A.I. Sometimes I get a message in the bottom right hand corner that my display driver failed and started again, sometimes it will just display a message that PA has stopped responding. Im using the latest beta driver from AMD, should I maybe be using a different one? Dxdiag is attached. Thanks.
errrrrrr why? What are them options there for then? Ive been running it all on max since the start of alpha with no problems...
Because HDR is slow at moment and developers warned you that it's slow, but I doubt it related to crashes.
Well I`ll try it off, but I haven't had any slow down in terms of FPS at all using HDR.. But if its the root of the crashing im happy.
Really you need try to disable each option and try to check if crashes still occur without it. This is easier way to find reason of crash. If you able to find way to reproduce crash it's will be even better. At moment there many people with black screens, but looks like crashes happen less often.
Do you mean you have an idea why exactly it's happen? Or you mean it's just crash every time? E.g if you know it's only happen on under certain circumstances you can do that: Check when exactly it's happen, make few screenshots. Get your game log which end with crash here: C:\Users\ YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME \AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\ Find crash line name which should looks like that: Code: [19:32:35.186]INFO Dump written to C:\Users\ YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME \AppData\Local\Temp\c3311be6-3c7d-4f43-87a9-3180e6435a02.dmp Make crash report on bugtracker: http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/index.php?do=newtask&project=1 Attach your DxDiag, game log and crash dump. To be fair I have no idea if developers will check it, but it's best way to track your issue and determine what version it started and when it's fixed.
Well I can certainly say its one of the settings, Im playing a game (same planets and A.I.) with no settings enabled and at its lowest, but with resolution scaling at 3 and its lasted the longest so far, not much difference on FPS, around 60. Edit: It doesn't really look any different on its lowest setting either, just no shadows (They look bad anyway) and no headlights.
It just crashed Its not one of the settings at all then, Had the display driver stopped responding message again.. Thought I was going to be able to play then.
did you try getting latest graphical drivers? in any case this patch crashes alllll the time. it's basically unplayable because of this an several other bugs see : https://forums.uberent.com/threads/patch-55493-bugs.53067/
It's probably not game crash! Can you make screenshot of error you get? Or post here proper error text.
Some times it comes up with drivers have stopped responding and they recover, and other times it will tell me that PA has stopped responding, theres nothing to screenshot, no error. The game freezes up, goes black and then i get one of two of those messages and that happens pretty fast, either in the center of the screen or bottom right hand corner, im sure you have seen these messages before when playing other games? Theres no other error message pal.
Okay my new idea. Long time ago in beta it's was serious problem for Nvidia users: FS#1813 You can change this driver timeout using this how-to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946 “Method 1: Increase the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) processing time by adjusting the Timeout Detection and Recovery registry value” Can you try it?
It's doesn't mater you on AMD or Nvidia. All windows graphics drivers work though WDDM and have exactly same crash errors. If this only driver freeze (not crash) most likely increasing of timeout should fix the problem. If this complete driver crash obviously it's won't help.
