I am pretty-much forced to resign from this game due to the star ranking system. All of the servers to which I ping well have blocked me out due to my 5-star or 4-star rating. The lowest-ping server I can join with players on it is around 330. I simply cant play under those conditions. There are servers to which I ping well and have a 5-star limit, but there are never any players there. It seems the players crowd to the low-star servers just to avoid getting smashed. As intentional as that is from the developers side, you have just cut off nearly half of your users. Consider this: There are far more beginners in the game than pros. Therefor it is much easier to find a beginner-level game than a pro-level game. Since beginners now have a way to block out pros, pros are left with greatly decreased chances of finding a playable (below 200 ping and with people on it) server. There are certainly greater restrictions on when these servers could appear, and only if you can go out of your way to meet those conditions and with a little luck can you actually find a game to play. If a 4- or 5- star rating prevents you from getting into a large number of games, then getting a 4- or 5- star rating should not be so easy. I even tried lowering my rating by playing on that 330 server, and could not manage it. Until this is fixed, I really have no choice but to resign. I refuse to play with such a huge ping (understandable) and I dont think it is worth it for me to be constantly loading the game and checking for that rare moment when a 5-star game might break out in my area. I havent found it yet in over 24 hours on a weekend. I wont be finding it anytime soon. It has been fun. L. Spiro
What the fooze! Here in Europe you have like 90%+ 5 star servers. I never had a problem to find a server. What about hosting yourself? I guess you are not the only one with a high rating and others will certainly join you when you create a listening server.
Perhaps my issue does not extend to everyone else at such an extreme. There is only one server in my country (Japan). After that, West coast America, East Europe, and North Australia all ping 120 and up. That is not so bad, but it quickly goes above 200 from there. Only about 10 or 15 servers show below 200 for me, and they are in incompatible timezones mostly. I see people on servers ranging from 120 to 150, which is perfectly playable, but now they seem to be all 3-star and below. The 5-star servers are simply empty. I did see one that had players, but it was full, which doesnt help much unless I am willing to sit around for 15 minutes just refreshing over and over, which I am not. The last low-ping game I was able to find was about a day ago and it was just because I had no rating yet. After getting a rating, I havent been able to play a single game below 300 ping, and I would rather just not play at all. If you are in Europe or America you probably have a nice pick of servers that are: #1: Pinging below 200. #2: Active at the same time you are active. #3: Carrying a full range of star ratings. #4: Having players, but not 12 players. Japan has pretty-much just been slapped in the face (on top of the earthquakes, tsunamis, and radioactivity). L. Spiro
Yep. The star system has screwed the smaller countries or "Not the USA" areas in favor of being able to coddle the newborns they expect to get from PAX or whatever it is they are attempting to do by segregating the community based on a completely arbitrary "skill" rating. There are other issues, like how your improvements to the netcode have made the game unplayable for a lot of people. Do away with this asinine system and return the game to the state it was in - this patch is a bust. You have to experiment, i get that. But this one is a failure.
If i can join a match when it's about to hit overtime and go 1-1-4 with a class i never use and still get 4 stars... I'm thinking even if it isn't it mightaswell be - the results are likely to have the same consistency and level of relevance in either case.
i dont fully understand they system anyways to be honest. I'm 4-stars now while i played about 6-10 matches yesterday with all k/d between 2 and 3 We won about a bit more then half of it and ive even been the most valuable player a few times. Now, im not boosting or anything, just wanna make a comparison here, a guy on the other team joined with a rating of 3, same as me at the time and within half the games it took for me to get to 4 he already was sitting on 5, with clearly worse stats. Not that i care to much to be honest but i just dont see how the system works. Also, i dont see how its that useful. On EU we have like 1 server with starmaxrating 2, the rest is all rating 5 so in te end it changes nothing for us, only the countries with a lower server count get screwed over. As a side note, balancing is still rubbish, lost a round with a full 2 star team vs only 4 and 5 star players.
Yep. Despite having a notable positive K/D and winning EVERY SINGLE MATCH i am now 3 stars. Winning is bad, apparently? I had a high number of bot kills in every match and despite having my armor nerfed i'm not dying 50 times in said matches. Thankfully nobody is bothering with ubers servers now in this area and we have a bunch of other servers up. Unless the "no assassins" server is populated i'm content to play again. I could almost say i'm enjoying it. Now if only the grapples weren't so dodgy...
The No Assassins server is rubbish. Lets all play Sniper because there are no Assassins to kill us. I got lucky that my only Steam friend was online at the same time as I was (which is rare given that he lives in New York) and was able to pick a server myself without having to join a high-ping populated server. People joined and I was able to force my rating down to 3 stars. That gave me some temporary freedom in choosing servers and I accidentally stumbled into that No Assassins server. I wasnt planning on playing Assassin anyway, so my complaint has nothing to do with myself being cheated out of my character. I was planning to play Tank the whole time and I did. But it was absolutely retarded. I have never seen so many Snipers in a game. Yeah. I love walking backwards all the time. And still getting shot in the head (please fix). Now I have to be careful to keep my rating under 4 stars. Not very fun. L. Spiro
I have several fundamental reasons for hating the star system, and the fact that the system is a bit buggy(MASSIVE understatement) is not one of them. I have a problem with people complaining about their team. Normally, you would have to play with people before getting an accurate measure of their skill. When the kinks in the star system get worked out, people are going to start whining before the match even starts. You should never be able to gauge a pubbers skill without playing them, ever. The reason the level system worked was because it wasn't an accurate measure of skill. I suck at playing nonsupport, nonassassin. When this system gets fixed up playing as anything other than those two classes(and the fun builds for those classes) for fun will kill my "star-rating." I'm not looking forward to that. I like fooling around with different classes and setups, even when I do badly(doesn't mean I don't try). The second thing I dislike on a base level is the fact that the servers are restricted by MAX star rating. Cutting off low-skill players from better ones mean they don't get better, not just that. There is no incentive. You actually LOSE server options by being bad. A minimum star rating would have been much better. Give the better players a place to go where they can stop whining, and give worse players a goal. I very much dislike the whole "star system" thing. I would like to see it completely removed, or at the very least tucked away in the stats I don't care about.
I'd like it a bit more if having a positive K/D, an assload of bot kills and being on the winning team AS MVP WITH THE HIGHEST CASH OUT OF ANYONE ON EITHER TEAM didn't bump me down to 3 stars. What the hell do i have to do for 5 stars? idle for an entire match? Why should i even care about this damn rating? Why DO i care?
so why is it that whenever i join a max 3 star server there is some 4 or 5 star winning the game alone?
Because they got 4 or 5 stars while playing on that server and like me are afraid to leave the server in fear of never being able to find another game. L. Spiro
While the star system is new, you can change star level really rapidly. 5 wins in a row boosts you to 5 stars; Thus, somebody can join a 1 star server if they are playing with the star system for the very first time and lost 3 games, and win 8 games, and be 5 stars in a 1 star server.
?????? I'm stuck at four stars and I've had winning streaks of 25 games or more, being the MVP of each one of those games. As far as I can tell, the star system is nothing more than a K/D Ratio-thing.
I was at 3 this morning went to 5 and dropped to 4. I have had my K/D improve .4 today and haven't lost a match. Every single match has been over 3K, one of them went to 15 and i've MVPd almost every single one with the most bot kills on my team and often on the entire server. Yep. 4 star effort. Star system = worthless.
