First time posting, so I'm not sure this is the best place -- but I really wanted to comment on the latest issue I've experienced. I was playing vs. AI on a 3 planet system. The computer camped on its planet, and I took over the other two. I will preface this with it being my second time playing the game, so I may be missing something. After 2 hours of play, I had massive armies to defend and take out the computer... but after the first failed attack (300 troops not enough) that I made against the enemy's Swarm/Zerg-like base, the computer began patrolling the whole planet. This effectively made it impossible for me to land ANYTHING on the enemy planet. I tried for about a half an hour, but I could not get anything set up on the other planet to go in for the kill. So after 2 and a half hours of creating massive armies and controlling 2/3 planets -- I couldn't do anything and had to QUIT without saving. AI wouldn't attack me, and I couldn't get onto their planet to attack them. This is broken to me. Is there something being done to fix this? Or am I missing something. At this point, I don't want to play again because when this happens, it's a waste of time.
Hi, I'm assuming your playing 'galactic war'? That would mean your options are more limited. I believe teleporter gates are available though? In that case when on a multi planet system it is *imperative* that you get a fabber into a transport and onto each planet as early as possible and *get a gate up*. Once you have a fortified gate to the other planets you can then send your units through en mass. Once the AI has full control it is very hard to attack. *if* you have advanced vehicle tech, your only option in the above situation is to make the very powerful *vanguard* tank and drop lots of them directly into the enemy base.
Yeah i agree we need more ways to invade planets, but right now what you should do is this: Invade with orbital fighters protect a small area, send in orbital fabricators build a few anchors, and then a teleporter, you can tell your orbital fabbers to repair the teleporter so it doesn't get destroyed. Another alternative is to build a few advanced space radars, and 5 orbital lasers. You send the space radars first find out where is the commander and then send the space lasers in an attack order. You will then snipe the commander.
Sweet. Thanks guys. Yes I was playing galactic war. I didn't have the technology for most of those options, but now I know that there are significant problems late in the game if you don't get your gate set up.
Btw if you haven't already found this option- there is *another* single player option available in a less than obvious place... under the 'multi player menu' (where else would you put it?!)... If you fancy a game with *all the tech*- you can play a skirmish by going into multi-player, then 'create game' and just set it to 'private'. Then you can add in AI allies or opponents, adjust difficulty, create teams or ffa type games as well as load up maps you've created yourself in the system designer. All tech is available in skirmish so its good if you want to mess around with all the options that you may not have come across in gw yet...
I wrote a pretty long post on invading enemy planets. Maybe it'll help you: http://forums.pamatches.com/t/guide-invading-an-enemy-occupied-planet/74
