Spunky Cola Arena - LOOK AT IT

    I posted it a long time ago in the PAX thread. Guess a lot of you guys didn't get to see it. The map does look sweet for great close quarter action.

    There has been some updates to that map since PAX.

    Spunky was designed with the idea of having the bots converge into one lane and getting players into the action as quickly as possible.

    I'm assuming that second part means the arena's design was largely unchanged?

    assault map heaven, lots of cover, close to mid range, i can't wait......tank and assault look like they will do good on, lots of spots for traps for a sniper though....should be annoying

    You guys all really didnt know about this arena till now? they showed it at PAX over a month ago. Lol i've been drooling a lot longer than yall i guess. :)

    I've known about it for awhile, i just never see the actual overlay of it. (even though i did see the PAX vid on it before hand too)

    Interesting arena although it seems backwards to me. Let me explain. Currently you can exit the spawn to your upper ring and there is a path to the left that leads to a walled area and connects via a bridge to the opposing team's walled area. There is also an elevated area to the right that goes over the bot spawn and then makes a left turn to place it directly in front of the spawn area, just farther forward. In the video all of the action took place in the center and the elevated area to the right of the spawn was neglected for the entire match. Now factor in that that elevated area has limited cover and it makes me wonder why it is even included?

    To me the elevated area to the right should be connected to the spawn and wrap around the exterior of the map. It should then connect to a central area via jump pad that houses the annihilator. I would get rid of the left path from the upper ring to the center as this seems to only encourage spawn camping, as was shown in the video even without trying to do it. It should take longer to get to the elevated center area and be fast to push through the bottom. To me this arena should be a mix of LazeRazer and Steel Peel forcing close quarter combat and flanks with having to hold the upper areas. Instead the map seems claustrophobic and encourages pushing only the walled areas. Hopefully the changes reflect this because the video only showed that half of the map is wasted space that only exists to extend the bot lanes.
