The T2 tanks overwhelm completely the T1, but Uber said that all the unit will have a role even at the end game. So i thought it could be interesting to balance the ants and the levelers by tweaking the speed, in order to give a real drawback to the levelers (lower the speed of the levelers, of course). I know that alpha stage is not time for balancing units, but i thought that it is not too time-consumming to modify some values like speed of units, and it could be interesting, even at this early stage, to see the impact.
You say that like it's only the T2 tanks that overshadow their T1 counterparts. :? So far we've seen very little specialisation for T2, and that (I think) is because we're in Alpha and Planetary Annihilation... is not actually a game yet. We have to wait. We need more systems in play before "balance" is something major to worry about. --- Don't fret; there are some of us who have a very keen interest in T1 vs T2 balance. We will make our voices heard when it is the correct time to do so.
Not really. That thread is talking about Tanks vs Bots; this one is about T1 vs T2. Although it's been framed as a "Balance Suggestion" specifically for T2 tanks... which doesn't do anyone any good at the moment. You need to step back and appreciate the bigger picture before fiddling with the numbers. Everything has a knock-on effect and simply altering the speed of T2 tanks won't remove what's actually wrong with them.
The way I view it, Uber is only trying to provide a semblance of balance atm to appease the people who want to play the Alpha, as opposed to Testing it. Expect things to change. Mike
