Hi gents! Firstly, congrats on release, it looks and plays beautifully! This issue involves single player only. I'm happy to see we now have a pause function. However I had the impression it was meant to be an active pause function, similar to the previous annihilations: you pause the game, then give a load of commands to a bunch of units, unpause, and watch the magic happen. May I ask if it's possible to remove the massive <<GAME PAUSED>> banner that currently blocks 50% of the screen when pausing? It really does make active pause gameplay quite difficult. Perhaps it's something I missed, feedback appreciated. Thanks!
the pause function is not meant to be an active pause. Being able to issue commands during a pause should be considdered as a bug
Actually you *can* issue commands while in pause. Only above or below the pause screen though I do this all the time in MP games that get paused- why not make use of the time!
Can we get a screenshot of this pause screen? I haven't made use of the pause button nor ran into someone who has in a game with me
If this is true, it most certainly is moddable to remove the popup screen, or at least shrink it down to a workaround size and make it not lock camera movement and such. Such would be a great mod, because active pause is nothing more than a good feature to add to a game, no complaints acceptable about advantages between players because pauses are arbitrary and both players should have the mod anyway (but announcing you have the mod is always best ettiquette). This is a mod worthy of the devs to feature in vanilla PA.
Dionytadema, it is. It was stated a long time ago that it'd be an active pause, allowing you to give commands during pause. Considering it a bug is just silly. Cdrkf, indeed you can! It's just the silly pause bar that gets in the way- other than that it's *almost* fully functional. The only thing still missing is the updating of the shift visualise queue thing- you'll only see your new orders/changes after unpausing when the actions take effect. It's more important for single player games though- which can be played very differently. Vrishnak, just hit Pause/Break button and have a look Stick to a singleplayer skirmish for experimenting though Thetrophysystem, You hit the nail on the head. It is simply the silly pause bar that gets in the way of a great function. I've not looked into modding yet though- I'd assume this'd be a client side mod? So yes- Removing the massive pause bar when paused would be great, mods or devs! (Any modders reading this- I can have a go at it if you could point me in the right direction, not sure where to look for this)
This sounds like a bug. This isn't intended to be an active pause. Active pause is a nifty idea though, and worth adding.
Worth adding, but call it a bug? Let's just agenda-ize it here, and call it an incomplete feature, just for our own greedy ends? Because I do want that to be vanilla, more features because moar? Yes, the pause bar is a graphic and a text insert probably generated through webcode based lines in the livegame.js and if you deleted the lines that generated the pause popup I am sure there would be no popup whatsoever, you wouldn't be alerted if game is paused or not but you definitely wouldn't have it blocked. The more elegant solution, is to make a mod that changes the pause button to a non-interactive half-transparent red words across the center of the screen. You would see it clear as day, but could see and click through it. That is also my suggestion to the devs to add! EDIT: Removed everything except the resume button, for some reason this makes it WORSE as it gets rid of the game view while paused and so you can't give orders I should make a better attempt.
