https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiT8g2hKCj0 if this guys illegally allowing downloads of the game. someone get him down. yesterday.
It's an old version and still requires a connection to the UberNet service/Servers as the Client can't host games on the parent system yet so it's effectively pointless from what I can tell. Good catch thought. Mike
Know what the sad part is? We can see his username in the video. This is quite interesting, as I don't know if Uber pushes out bans or whatnot for this kind of behavior, fake or not. Beamlpp memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1917096
In the video it has his youtube channel hard-subtitled into it, and the user being green color matches the only green name in the player list at the top left of the game screen. Edit : It's possible that he ripped the video from youtube and put the hard subs on afterwards, but going on the pixelation, if he did that, it wouldn't be nearly as bad quality as the other boundaries in the video itself.
Oh neutrino I think you doing it wrong. I doubt this guy have anything to do about this. :| All these videos is made fully automatically. It's just script which take account from list (youtube accounts sold for really cheap), grab others video, re-encode or add watermark using ffmpeg, and re-upload it to youtube, comments to fake videos also send automatically. It's all done by scripts though proxy servers, nobody ever create these videos by hands. There is original video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP_UChl1SSQ
He can always respond to the email, no? No response as of yet. Anyway now you guys understand why we haven't released the server yet.
Oh **** is right D: I figured that was possible, but didn't think it was a legitimate thing, like.. actually existing and happening. Not by scripts anyway. That's a lot of work to someone else's video. It really does look like it was implemented with the text at the time of creation. I'd give apologies to him, but I don't speak German. :< (Does being part German help my case any? 8D) Never did question why you didn't want to release the server yet. As a.. connoisseur [/Monocle?] of sometimes being a pirate [/Arrh], I know the good and bad of what comes about in piracy. Even my pirate side says to keep that server till you know it's secure. We may be swashbucklers till th' day we die, but that dun mean we aren't got's respect for the devs. Just not the publishers who're only out for money. They know who they are. Even if I didn't put money into this game, I'd prefer that it's the most secure possible, even though I'd still be sad that I couldn't play it. This really is one of the only projects I see that's totally worth sending a $200 payment for the game and it actually GOING toward the game and the devs instead of in a publisher's pocket while the developers themselves get jack diddly of it. I've always hated that about the gaming industry and that in itself will always bring out the pirate.. And I am definitely not alone.
Some people don't check email every day (i usually check it once a month because I have different emails for work and accounts). If something like that happen to me I will be really upset about it. And it's obviously not his failure that some scammer use his youtube video. There is completely no reason to block people from game because some fake video on youtube. I personally strongly against server release before actual game release, I think all technician people here understand why. But I also hate when my account blocked without visible reason, and it's very bad precedent. You can't stop people from paying to scammers or downloading spyware on their computers if they isn't smart enough.
Even if he doesn't check email regularly I'd imagine once they can't log in they'll then start to find out what happened.
Yeah, he can easily find why that happen... but there is no reason at all to block his account and it's only mater for me. If you search on youtube using "planetary annihilation download" phrase you easily find other scam videos with other PA players: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sDzY6cfaK8 - thekiller666 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8PNtIjKtbQ - zaphodx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsILeu_l1Oo - totalbiscuit Should any of them get temporary ban? Is that "beamlpp" guy are different? I don't think so. Yeah, scammers are bad guys, but it's internet and it's doesn't even against law (still against youtube ToS), because they doesn't really distribute any unlegal materials, it's usually just false advertising. I understand developers feelings, nobody like to see their project name in such scam videos. It's still not reason to harm legit players who posted videos on youtube and actually help to make game more popular. PS: I don't try to attack anybody, I really like what Uber doing and happy to see their progress with PA. But accidentally neutrino did something really wrong and I don't want to see it as normal practice.
I'll confess I didn't know that these things are made by programs. I have to agreed that if he didn't know anything he shouldn't get banned... Still at the least Youtube should be doing something to keep video's like that one from going up in the first place. Then we wouldn't be here talking about whether or not someone should be banned without so much as a 'did you do this?'
