OK, so I love the game's overall presentation, but a lot of the time it seems like it doesn't go far enough. I'm talking about the sports casting stuff mostly, and the idea that this an aired television broadcast. Firstly, where are the instant replays or game highlights? This seems like a natural idea to fit into a sports telecast. Figuring out a natural way to integrate this into the match would add a lot to the feel of the game. Maybe the MVPs of a match get small recordings made if they get a multi-kill, and if they get MVP status, this get's played at the end of the match. This could be difficult to manage and make the game laggier, so it might not be the easiest thing to execute, but it'd still be awesome. 2ndly, for a game with so many fake sponsors, there really isn't a lot of advertising. Considering the wait between matches in a lobby, I think it'd be really cool to have a picture in picture window playing commercials during the wait for the next match. If you don't want to look at the gamercards of the people in the lobby, you can watch the commercials. If they're more of the commercials like the one made for the LazeRazor to promote the game, these could be great. Then there's something that I think would be awesome, and again tie into the whole Professional Sports vibe more: picking your own number. If you look at the character models for the classes you can notice that they all have a number, like any athlete, but it seems odd that you can't choose it. I dunno, maybe a prestige reward? Those are just some basic thoughts, got any more ideas on ways to make the game look a bit better, and increase the overall "feel" of the game?
I think those are some cool thoughts. I would like to see crazy replays at the end. It would be entertaining. With the whole minute wait in the lobby thing....I would totally agree that there should be something there to distract us/keep our small minds entertained for that long minute wait haha. So a window in window of commercials or something would be awesome. Or if there was a way to make us select our class in the lobby instead of the game so we could view what the other classes have as their sponsors. I think that would pretty awesome and just a little something to waste time.
I like the Idea of adverts while waiting, but the development team just can't pump at a huge amount of them, plus like real adverts after a while they would become repetitive and annoying. The problem with replays is well, like you said it's just difficult :| My suggestion? Why not have pro-tag like adverts which you earn after a lot of hard work, if you kill someone, your advert plays on their screen while they wait to re-spawn. Kind of like a tramp-stamp I owned you'r *** now sit here and watch this advert, again and again, and again.
i agree somthing to make the wait seem short lol (gamers complaining about a 1 min wait to the lobby is silly in my opinion.) however even a simple ammo mule ad would be fine. just a little screen to the top right of somthin.
Yeah, it's not that the wait is long or anything, it's just that sometimes I have nothing else better to do, so I just stare at the timer, and after a few hundered matches, it gets old. Even little simple text ads, or like, a news ticker of rediculous news stories would help. I just think it would add to the "Presented to you on ESPN 27" vibe I get out of the game.
I think the topic creator has some excellent ideas. I, too, love the over-the-top enthusiastic NFL-esque presentation of the game, but think that it falls a little short of what I was expecting. This is probably just because of time/labor constraints, but easily something that can be rectified through DLC or patching. Halftime shows- obviously not long ones, but maybe short skits with Pit Girl or Mascot? Maybe a band? I guess the rounds that allow you to shoot the Mascot sort of count. Maybe mix it up? Have some rounds where you shoot the Mascot, others where the Mascot throws powerups and money from the sky and you scramble to catch them? Additional advertisements between games in the lobby- I think this is smart. The endorsements can really be something special here. I'm thinking about Borderlands and how they handled weapon manufacturers. Each one had a lot of personality because a motto was stated every time you went to purchase a weapon. I'd like to see some exposure like that in MNC. Winner's vs. Loser's Crossfire poses- instead of Pit Girl just pointing at one of the signs, show her and the Mascot cheering/dancing with the winning team, and maybe show the other team sulking and downtrodden as tomatoes are thrown at them from the stands. Blitz winning/losing- Have Pit Girl do different dance routines or various disappointed looks when you win or lose. The trailers seemed to have her do all kinds of animations. Sort of sad that they're not in the game. Dual announcers- obviously some banter would be fantastic. This is probably something that is simply not possible until a sequel is made, but two announcers' personalities bouncing off one another can lead to great fun. Think Madworld's announcers. I think there's a lot of room for growth to make MNC a wholly unique experience from an aesthetic standpoint. I hope Uber can maybe implement some of the ideas in this thread.
Wow, just got back into this game after a bit of a hiatus. Love some of the new flavor load screens they've added for the load screens. It's similar to the type of presentation improvements I was talking about with this original post. It's sure a whole lot better than just looking at that same Bacon and Shotgun shell load screen! Now we just need a good churro load screen! Also - beer? What could be more natural for a sporting event?
