Hi, First of all, good job guys ! I played the game on Windows and it work fine. I want to play it on my Linux system but i've a lot of issues and because of it, I can't play. I made some screenshots that you can see at the end of this post. When the game window has the focus, its content is not updated in time and I see a sweeping effect (as old TVs). For don't have this problem I need to click on the desktop to lose focus, however I can't use it. I tried to launch a party but again I have the same issues and the game is not playable. My PC specs : - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz - ATI/AMD HD 6850 1 Go GDDR5 (I now it's a cool card on Windows but on Linux it's a pain) - Catalyst by Ubuntu 12.9 (OGL 4.2) - Ram dual 8 Gb DDR3 - Kubuntu 13.04 with KDE 4.10.5 For my tests I've disabled all desktop effects. How I can help you to solve this problem ?
Re: [KDE/AMD] Interface and game not usables There is two ways... 1. Get beta proprietary driver: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... river.aspx You will have vsync issues, but everything else will work. Probably textures will load slowly. 2. Install Mesa 9.2 from PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa You will get few glitches (sun shader, icons bug) and bad perf, but average experience will be much better.
Re: [KDE/AMD] Interface and game not usables Hi, Thanks for you reply ! I've installed the latest AMD driver and it's better This is not yet perfect because i've a problem with my mouse cursor, it's weird just look the screenshots ans you will understand. But I can play and it's cool. Another question : If i'm using ctrl + P I don't see perf log such as FPS. Is it normal ?
Re: [KDE/AMD] Interface and game not usables No, it's bug. Hotkeys broken for me too. http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/inde ... sk_id=1806 (vote please)
Also for cursor problem: viewtopic.php?f=73&t=48482&start=20 Here is solution: xcompmgr + vsync on + Tear Free on. It's works for me on Catalyst 13.1 (there was many other texture glitches), but currently I can't even enable tear free, got "Tear Free Desktop cannot be enabled due to insufficient graphics memory" error.
Ok thanks for the tips. The cursor issue is important and I hope that it will be fixed in the next alpah release.
It's won't be fixed in any release, it's not game bug, it's AMD drivers bug. Yeah, if Uber change their code it's probably can work, but It's won't be "bugfix". Also I able to fix it for myself on Kubuntu 13.04 with latest fglrx: Catalyst Tear Free: on Catalyst VSync: always on Catalyst A.I.: off Kwin backend: XRender And we need to report it here: http://devgurus.amd.com/community/steam-linux
