I'll be straightforward with this one:

The steam version of PA blackscreens when launching, but the Uber launcher works fine.

    Here:

Yes my drivers and system is completely fine. I uploaded anyway.

I've also verified game cache on steam. There are no errors to report either.

It's like the UI never loaded, there is no trace of 'coherent_UI' in the task manager processes. This is a weird one.

Launch from the uber launcher if you have it, if it works try and verify game cache again. Try going to nvidia website manually to see if they have ninja'd in new drivers. ;)

Edit: I derped and didn't watch the whole vid

    Hello,

According to your video, you have Comodo Antivirus. That antivirus may be the reason why the Steam version of PA black-screened upon launch: It refused to let Coherent UI load.

You will want to add all Coherent UI host applications and both PA.exes (x86 and x64) to the whitelist or uninstall Comodo entirely. Those types of antiviruses and internet security suites never work well with games.

@SXX, you may want to add "Comodo antivirus" to your "List of software incompatibilities with Windows" thread if the antivirus did indeed cause the blackscreen.

P.S. Everything looks fine in your Dxdiag, except that you are running the monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate instead of a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Yep, kj has it dead on. Its got to be that antivirus. I would either invest in a really good AV or just not have one - there's less hassle. If you go the second route, though, you have to know exactly what you're doing and monitor what stuff you visit like some paranoid dude.

Also, screw Steam. I may use it for many things, but I don't use it for PA for tons of reasons.....

ditch the antivirus, even if that turns out not to be the problem.

AV is an archaic remnant of a time when AV developers were more intelligent than the average 6 year old. Since this is no longer the case, it remains only a needless source of headaches.

So long as you avoid the decadent bowels of the internet, you won't have any trouble (not that AV would protect you worth a dam anyway).

The antivirus and firewall are not a problem, and they have never been a problem.

I completely disabled Comodo and Avast, no luck.

This is a deeper problem I believe (probably steam being ****)

PS. My monitor is 144Hz because my PC can push out 144 FPS in most games :p

Maybe because of the new Steam update (new icon found)? Steam client updates sometimes screw up games.

You also have ASUS GPU Tweak installed. Have you disabled it yet?

I'll try launching the game through Steam to see if I have the black screen issue.

EDIT: I downloaded the new Steam client update, and when I launched PA through Steam, I was able to get into the game just fine. So the problem must be Avast, Comodo, or some other mysterious program.

    I just solved my problem.

It turns out steam beta was causing this mess.:mad:

I subscribed to participate in the steam beta a long time ago, and i completely forgot about it. So yep it turns out my dumbass forgot about the bugs in beta versions of software.

Thanks for trying to help though :D

PS. I actually checked to see if i had beta enabled, but, (no i'm not joking), the toggle was set to 'off'.
It was actually on. Looks like a bug was hiding a bug.
