Imagine this. You're a sniper on Steel Peel. On one side of the map you see the enemy team: Gunner, Assassin, Support, Tank, Another Sniper and an Assault. They do not notice you and you have a chance to headshot one of them.

    Who do you shoot?

The top 3 I would shoot are

The gunner or tank, if he's in a position to control that area of the map I would take him out for my team to advance.

The support, if he's setting up a firebase and is hacking it, that's going to be an obvious wall to your team's advance.

The other Sniper, because either you're going to have to deal with him after you take the shot. Also depending on his position he can get a good shot at your bots/turrets with him remaining safe. Also 1 on 1 sniper fights are difficult, trying to shoot another Sniper's little body while you are both circle strafing and bunny hopping. That would leave me open to an assassin who would go after me.

I would probably shoot the Sniper, Take the easy headshot on the gunner/tank, and then whiddle down the supports firebase until he retreats or trys to get rid of me.

I would only take out the enemy Sniper first if I'm seeing AoE explosions that aren't mine killing bots that are mine. Stop him from gaining enough juice on your bots to saving throw when you snipe him into the red (planning for a missed headshot is always a good idea on mediocre Snipers who hoard juice and camp in their base). You need to take him out first so that the Tank is forced to push bots in the Sniper's stead, thus becoming a soft target, or so that a Gunner has no cover fire to protect his big fat stupid head. A firebase is an even bigger liability, unless it's in a bad location, at which point I'm content to drop it down to critical health so that the Support wastes his time trying to frantically heal a poorly-placed waste of a yellow skill, although the tradeoff is that he gains juice as a result.

Really it's a matter of what's gonna help your team control the map.

There are really a lot of factors to this. If the sniper is halfway decent then you would want to go for him first in most situations, since he poses to biggest threat to you. Otherwise if you know anything about your enemy, you should go with whoever is the most skilled, as that's who you want to be suppressing throughout the game. Barring that, you should just go for whoever poses to greatest threat to your team. That would be anyone with juice, anyone pushing a lane, or anyone going after another teammate or a turret. The actual classes of your targets don't matter as much as how they're being played.

Let's say they're all lvl 99 and have extensive knowledge of their classes' metagame.

On Steel Peel it's gotta be the other Sniper.

id dare say steel peel is the only game the sniper is going to see that many targets available, and all of them are performing their classes duty (and the support has a firebase out thats in a shootable yet annoying position)

If they're all level 99, my strat remains the same:

Remove the Sniper first ONLY if

    A) he has explosive shot, and/or
    B) he's isolated and has a wide open shot at the entire arena (AmmoMule, Grenade III)

if he does not meet one or both of those criteria, his threat is minor. Actually, Even if he's sitting behind the arches on Steel Peel and firing down both lanes with AoE shot, that means he's not on his side of the upper ring, where you should be in order to keep him in his base. Sniper is not really OP on Steel Peel, because his ability to fire down both lanes is greatly tempered by the many ways he can be safely approached while firing from those spots

So then, attack the Gunner or Tank first. The Gunner is great at controlling space in a wider radius than the Tank, but the Tank has greater mobility and Product Grenade at his disposal to chase pros away and claim map area. Kill whichever one has greater map control first, to allow your team to push forward.

Eh, I'd say attack the tank or gunner last. If you can only get one headshot, don't waste it on a class that's a big target. I find assaults much harder to kill than either tanks or gunners, so I would rather have them be the easy kill.

But it's all very situational. In a real in game situation it would probably just be whoever I thought was being the most aggressive. Or more likely whoever happens to be the closest to my crosshairs.

This is more about, who is the most important person to shoot first. It's pretty similar to the Sniper from TF2's priority targets: heavy, engies, medic and other snipers. And it's basically the same for MNC's sniper: Supports, Tanks, Gunners and other Snipers.

It's going to help the team control the map alot more then shooting an assassin in MNC or shooting a Spy in TF2.

I hate knowing that the enemy team has a Sniper, especially if I don't know where he is, so I would probably take him out first.

I would always take out the sniper first , just to give myself time enough to evaluate the situation with my head in one piece and bullet free.

When dealing with enemy Snipers I have to always know where they are, but if I can be in a position to deal with Gunners, Tanks, Supports, outside of the enemy Sniper's line of fire, I am a bigger help to my team. Let the Assaults and Assassins take out the Snipers.

However, if I can't do damage outside of the enemy Sniper's line of fire, I try to find unique areas to get a shot on them so they don't see it coming. Problem with Sniper fights is that they can often take alot of time, preventing me from keeping Gunners and Tanks from getting too close to my base.

Ya, Sniper fights can take waaay to long. Especially fighting a Sniper and another Enemy at the same time. Most of the time I just hide behind a wall and jump, and aim lower to compensate for the jump and shoot them in the head instantly if I see another sniper aiming for me. Ya I hate it when there's an enemy Sniper, they're a huge distraction.
