Snipers not using the sniper

The other day a nice person asked me a question, "why use the sniper if you don't use the sniper?" I spent most of the game using the sniper rifle just to push bots back and the SMG and flack to deal with other players. tbh i dont like snipers that much in any game but i love the flack, grapple and smg combo. I can use the sniper rifle, but again I just prefer not to use it much.

this got me thinking, should I really be using the sniper at all? My own opinion is how I answered the guy that asked me in the first place: its just my preffered style because I feel most comfortable using it. But i thought some different opinions would be nice and helpful.

So you play 'The ginger step-child' - nothing wrong with that. Much more fun than playing him like a 'regular' sniper.

Sounds like just about every player who has played more than 2 rounds as sniper.

Should you be playing sniper at all? Well, if you play another class, you would actually be exposed to combat. Hell, you might even need some skill. Better just stick with sniper.

I never got to ask but how does the 360 community feel about the role of and balance of the sniper?

Ehh play how you want. I have 2200 sniper rifle kills, and 2100 combined SMG, flak, and grapple kills. That doesn't even include alt fire grapple kills and ring outs. Sniper is IMO one of the more fun classes because he has the ability to fight at any range, so you can just switch it up if you're bored with one.

For people who's using bronze/silver skill recovery on Sniper... You're wasting a slot.

Use bronze clip size.

I prefer bronze criticals. Juice if I'm feeling super edgy.

Bronze Critical Shots don't do jack.

Sarcasm in response to your post. I've tried bronze clip size and I found it useless. Still better than criticals and juice though.

Explosive shots are an annoyance but I just learn to time my lunges and get the hell out of there. I don't know how other players feel but I think they're fine.

I think they're a waste of $400.

That may of been me, I send that to a lot of people that play sniper seriously.

i think snipers are fine the way they are. its easy to say the explosive ammo is unfair, but i feel sniper's tiny amount of health (even with level 3 armor) evens it up enough. the clip size of the smg is a pain for me but thats easy to fix up by changing my sniper's endorsments. i think thats about it from me

Snipers are fine and dandy on XBox for me except for the fact that their Explode. Shots proc. off their own team.

I find that useful though, especially when my team-mates are being grappled.
