Sniper Zoom Feature

    I would love to see a zoom feature applied on the sniper scope. Anyone else?

    Seconded :D sniper rifle is useless or at least very unconvenient at anything but long range :/

    sure, but the sniper has other skills and weapons for closer range. make the sniper more effective at close range and then you have people complaining that the sniper is over powered.

    trust me, a skilled sniper can seriously own a team without your suggested zoom feature. i know from experience of being on the other team of an owning sniper *cough*scathis*cough* and hearing my team constantly complain that they cant kill him, and then cheer when he dies :lol:

    Seconded. A solid sniper can keep the opposing team pinned in spawn on some maps. I've been one shotted two steps out of spawn before. That bastard. :evil:

    ProTip: Traps are only activated when player is running. Flying, jumping or thrusting over the trap will not set it off.

    ProTip: Traps can be destroyed by area damage abilities. (Air Strike, Flak, Explosives)

    Think the sniper's underpowered? I went 36 and 7 as a sniper in a crossfire match. Got the Uber Streak durring it. While ONLY using the sniper and traps. Traps and sniper make close rang a joke, usually Im able to trap and headshot with my sniper then move on.

    Zoom feature? You know that the left trigger makes you zoom in right? Or am I missing something?

    I think he means being able to zoom at varying intensities.

    Personally I'd like to see it matched to how far down the L trigger is.

    really? if there ever was a zoom change feature, i would like it how uncharted 2 has it. i think in that game, you can zoom slightly by using what left trigger would be on the 360, and then zoom farther by clicking the left or right stick in, i forget which one.

    If it's mapped to how much the L trigger is being pressed, you can tap it lightly for a small zoom, and gradually zoom closer in and farther away to your liking.

    One fix that NEEDS to be implemented is reducing the sensitivity while zoomed in with the scope.

    transformers war for cybertron does that same exact feature and it makes sniping such a pain in the butt!!
    i really do not agree.

    we have thumb sticks for a reason, you can control the speed.

    I agree that this could be a possible fix but it is far too advanced for most players to use properly. You could possibly use a partial pull for say a 5x scope and a full pull for the 10x scope but even that is more than most can handle comfortably. Good idea, I'm just not sure if the masses would understand it easily enough.

    Games like Armored Core use a partial then full pull method for second stage boosting and the learning curve on it was downright hard. I think it took me a few hours of practicing to get the feel right. Having a progressive scope would provide similar headaches when the pull too hard upon the trigger. Better to provide a 1-90% pull option and a 91-100% pull option to simplify things a bit.

    Gamecube did it right by having the shoulder buttons stop at about 90 and then click to 100.

    You don't find the insane sensitivity while trying to aim for a small target annoying?

    One last thing, remember to be careful what you ask for... if the Sniper gets a better scope they will probably have something taken away to keep them balanced. Personally I would love to see the Sniper's scope bounce slightly when they take damage as to prevent them from pulling off super accurate shots while under heavy fire.

    I would probably rage if the sniper's scope was tampered with in any way..

    Especially if they added different magnifications of zoom such as in halo 3....

    Look I may not be a sniper but I've seen it in the hands of some masters. To be honest Dev is the first one that comes to mind, I've seen him find insane spots and have the other team for lunch with it, while I ran around like a crazy man.

    The point being that the sniper class isnt for everyone, Its part of the reason I love this game is that there is indeed a class for everyone and it forces you to think beyond roles you would normally play in FPS's.

    I for example in every other shooter, am the sniper, however I prefer gunner on MNC. It just suits me more.

    i play at 8 sensitivity... *shrug*
    but with the faster speed i can track a moving target, as well as move it slowly for precise headshots.

    meh, i think snipers could do with a mid range zoom,
    i mean, our ice traps are useless if the enemy is actually looking where they are going.
    i'm encountering more and more "smart" assault'ers who just never touch the ground when they close in for the kill on me.
    why give us a nerf in exchange for an extra zoom, when we aren't exactly godlike anyway.
    just improve our zoom.

    yeah, i'm not a sniper player in most other games, but i love sniper in this game.
