    Highlight the smileys and watch them have a completely different look

    Doesn't work for me in Opera. Unless you mean that they turn blue but I guess that's not exactly out of the ordinary. Would be possible to do that with CSS I think.

    If you highlight them they look differenter and funnier highlight laughing you will see ad ifference

    You won't unless you use Internet Explorer. Gods, I haven't waited that long for a page to load in years... :D

    I went over the code superficially but I can't figure out why it would do that in IE.

    Ah, mystery solved. IE covers the marked segments with a small transparent-blue raster which means it eats up every 2nd pixel. That leads to some pretty nasty artifact effect which - in this case - look kinda funny. Basically, it's just another thing that should be fixed in IE. ;)

    That explains why I didn't see any difference in FireFox.

    Which is something I like.
