I have a couple of friends who don't play MNC that much, because they feel the game doesn't promote balanced teams since they lose their skills when changing classes. I suggest maybe refunding a player's money, maybe limit 1 time per match, if they change classes. Let's say the game starts off like 3v3, and people join in during the match, lots of times people will go ahead and pick any class they want and result to having too many of one class. The smarter players would want to change their class just for a more balanced team, but the game doesn't exactly promote class changing because all that money spent on those upgraded skills will just go down the drain. So I think maybe a limit of once per match, if a person changes classes, that money that they spent on the skills gets refunded back to them.
They could do things to smooth class change in this game, but I wouldn't support a full refund. And I am the kind of person that will change, even in the beginning of a match, if a team is obviously stacked of counters. I lose money for upgrades, but I rather play vanilla tank vs team of assassins and snipers, than gunner.
I think cutting the amount of money you've used in half would be fair. A full refund is a bit much, but half-back may work.
Also, I like how my skills stay on the previous class when I switch, so I can switch back after I teach the enemy not to stack teams and they unstack. I often go gunner, then go assassin, then go back gunner. I guess this is one reason I don't mind the current standard, because I don't want a half-refund when I would rather have the skills on that class so I can go back to it.
i like the current system. if there is a refund, it would be of "farming mad then switching to your dominant class", then games would change to counter-farming etc. maybe that's a bit off-track but yea i like the current system, no refunds
Maybe something like an ejector button inside the spawn room that can only be used once by the player and it gives a partial refund. I really think this would help new comers stick around with MNC because the current system is discouraging players from changing classes and discouraging balancing of teams. As I said in my first post, two of my friends quit playing MNC and it's because they don't feel like it's balanced.
It is fairly balanced. Players could help make it moreso. The reason it FEELS so unbalanced is skill gap. A little difference in players makes a huge leap of an outcome. Someone 2 notches above someone else can keep them in base all game. Anywho... IDEA 1 is perhaps for skills to be transferable. It wouldn't be so bad if when you switched classes, it asked you where you want your former skill upgrades to go so you can select new skills for your next class to start with upgraded. IDEA 2 is an option where you can go into skill selection and "unbuy" skills for a bit of cash back. That sounds like it could help switch classes, but doing it otherwise would simply grief yourself. This takes more time to change classes, which should always be a bit of a drawback anyway... but this prevents people from going assault to assassin and trading all their upgrades for raw juice money and going without skills. Giving raw cash, full or partial, for previous upgrades, sounds like a bad idea.
I don't think you get what I mean about unbalanced, I'm talking about balanced as far as how many of each class per team. If someone picks assassin when there are only 3 people on the team, and then 3 more people eventually join the team through out the game and all of them are playing assassin, the first guy doesn't want to change classes because all the money put into skills has been flushed down the drain, and all the other guys who joined later are too stubborn to pick something else. It's a lose lose situation. If the first guy stays assassin, his team has way too many of them, and if he changes classes, he lost his money.
There is a reason why you are allowed to see what class the enemy team picks while you choose yours. There are those players who are comfortable with 1 or 2 classes and will most likely pick those at game start and play until game-end. Then there are those all-around player who pick their class based upon what their team needs. Full or any refund while switching classes will break the economy within MNC. Money is the biggest deciding factor in MNC and making it less relevant would only hurt the game. Most players forget it takes zero skill upgrades to spawn bots. Most players also disregard the benefit Pro spawned bot can provide to your team. Every single Pro spawned bot provides some form of added forward momentum. While some bots may not actually have the ability to get kills they all have the ability to distract enemy Pros. Before picking your class you are able to see what your team consists of. Granted there are a few glitches where you can't see what the enemy team is made up of the info needed to choose a class is there. Even without seeing the enemy team when you see two Assassin's why would you also pick Assassin? Same goes for any and all classes. I'd say the biggest downfall with new users is that they only have one class they run with.
Ever since the class select screen has been changed, pressing Tab doesn't show me the score board anymore. How do you see what classes the enemy team picks?
I think the skills that you bought should be transferred between classes. Like, if I have the katana as assassin and switch to sniper, I'd have exploding bullets. I think the cash refund could easily be abused. For instance - time is running out and low on cash - switch to another class, get a ton of money to buy juice - slaughter ball during overtime.
The problem is that many players select their class late, new players more often I think. If I play Assassin on a server with no class limits I might be the only one in the class selection screen running Sin. And when I use Tab we suddenly have 3 Sins on our team and no Support - YAY! It would be nice to be able to change to another class without suiciding. Just put a button into the spawn room please.
this could be as easily abused, and what you're suggesting is technically a FULL refund. this is suggested by someone and needs to be done!!
You have to close the class selection screen first (with the button) to see it...although I think you can still hit the class change button to choose a class before the game starts.
A full refund would be a bad idea as certain classes simply make money easier than others. HOWEVER I think a 50% refund would be balanced. This allows people to change classes and upgrade some skills with the money returned but doesn't allow for picking a "farm" class and switching out your abilities later onto another class. It also means that the loss of money would be less gamebreaking for people switching early on in the game when they only have a couple skills upped to 2 compared to when they get them upped to level 3.
