There are a few situations I can think of where a user should get an assist because they feel like they helped out in same way but don't get anything. Not too many that I can think of but a few are:
--When a sniper sets a trap and slows/freezes someone but another team member gets the kill while they were slowed/frozen (sniper helped out with the trap by slowing them down but it doesn't show in any way)
--When a user creates a turret or upgrades it to level 2 but then it is upgraded to level 3 by someone else and gets a kill or an assist (users who create or upgrade turrets should get an assist if they were not the last ones to upgrade it so they don't feel like they put money into it for nothing)
--Maybe not assists but SOMETHING for supports that hack a turret (i've thought about this and can't come up with a stat since it isn't a kill or assist but a support that is able to hack an enemy turret is a big deal and it's tough to do. maybe more cash? idk, what do you guys think)

Any others that come to mind, or feel like any of these mentioned already are ones you agree with?

I wouldn't mind a support getting an assist for healing someone that killed another player (Team Fortress 2 style). It would encourage more Supports to play more like a...support.

The turret upgrade/assist thing is somewhat complicated.. an organized team could make a lot more money just by making sure different people buy/upgrade each turret to maximize the number of assists awarded. Some would see this as a problem, and some would see this as an interesting strategy element. It doesn't really make much sense though.. why should one turret's kill be worth more than an equivalent turret's kill just because it was upgraded by different people?

Maybe instead of the normal kill/assist system, it could work something like this..
-Person who bought the turret gets $8 per kill
-Person who upgraded to level 2 gets $8 per kill
-Person who upgraded to level 3 gets $8 per kill
-Support who hacked the turret gets $6 per kill

    Example 1:
    Player A buys a level 1 turret
Player B upgrades it twice, to level 3
    Player C hacks it
For each kill by the turret, player A get $8, player B gets $16, and player C gets $6.

    Example 2:
Player A buys a turret, upgrades it to level 3, and hacks it
For each kill by the turret, player A gets $30.

I do agree that something like this is pretty complicated. I like your solution though, more people might be likely to invest in a turret at the start of the game.

Does anyone know how hacking a turret works currently for the Support as far as the credit that they get for it goes?

If Player A gets a turret to level 3 but then Player B hacks it and the turret gets a kill, who currently gets what credit?

Another assist issue I have is when I grapple someone with Assassin. This happened to me 3 times in one game and was quite annoying. I went into to grapple with a dagger. The dagger stuck in, I was was waiting for the backflip, and boom. A Sniper headshots the guy. What am I left with? No kill, no assist, and a 15 second cooldown. I know what really matters is the guy died, but the point is I want credit for what I do. The headshot would not have been as easy or even possible had I not grappled him.
