Hello, I just purchased the $89 steam access. I decided that the hefty $89 or $96 here in Australia, was worth it as I believe this game has amazing potential. Just before I get to my main point I just want to point out I completely understand that it is at a pre-alpha stage. Okay, my main and in fact only issue is the lack of any form of single play. I completely understand that single player requires a lot of AI which from personal experience takes a VERY long time. My issue I think stems more from a lack of server access here in Australia, this essentially means I cannot play the game at all. I don't want to supply non-constructive criticism so I would just like to recommend you include a basic single player in the next or one of the next builds. When I say simple I mean simple, No AI, No Objectives, nothing. Basically just skirmish without AI, you might even include some enemy units with no AI. I hope you can include something along these lines, please... I really want to see you progress and help you out with whatever feedback I can give, but I can already see that there will be connection issues here in Aus.
Go to the options. There you can select your preferred server location. They offer AU as well. Also I just played somebody else from australia on an EU server it it made no problems. There is little to no chance of Uber releasing the server at this point, so even with an AI you would need to play online. The server will probably be released in late beta or at release.
Thanks, I actually figured that out already (Doh ). I still think that a single player option should be included, even just to allow players to experience the games features without need for an internet connection.
Just to repeat it in case somebody got confused. There will be a single player option in the finished game so you can play without any online connection. It most likely will be released before the game is finished in december too. Also, if you want to play alone in a sandbox, just start a normal game on your gateway and make it start before anybody else joins in.
You will get single player experience when game will be done. Before this date there is no reason to publicly release servers because it's only bring piracy.
Apologies, I do understand that there will be single player in the final game. Thanks for the quick response btw. Piracy is a whole other concern, but personally as a gamer I would still prefer offline play soon. (But we can't all get what we want :lol: )
