Hello all, I've been getting a lot of abrupt 'Simulation Terminated' messages during games recently, especially against the AI. Just curious if other people are experiencing this. EDIT: Sorry, should have checked the tracker first
Yup, been getting the same thing on my end. Being that the actual game isn't crashing to desktop, I would say it has something to do with the servers. But unlike most common crashes (in most games) this seems, at least from my experience, to be random early-mid game. The games I have gone all the way through without this problem can get huge amounts of units up and running about, but this glitch seems to happen quite randomly. I personally don't know if it is a server overload, but from my experience it seems to a hiccup in the server mid game that crashes it (memory maybe). The other problem could be how they set-up servers, if they have multiple games running on the same machine, and depending how the processes go through multiple matches it maybe its not stable to run it. And yes, its been happening more often in this patch. Please look through the networking/server code uber, it seems you added something fishy. P.s. One of zaphods recent tournament videos also had this crash.
Here's the link to the bug on the bug tracker: http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=78&status%5B0%5D=10&order=history&sort=desc It is the server crashing, as confirmed by Uber in the comments for the bug. The more games we play, the more data they'll have to crunch (?), but trying to identify any patterns in why it crashes will be helpful.
I've also seen this error message but the server has remained up when playing against other players. I was then able to reconnect and continue playing.
When I play against the AI, I can't reconnect afterwards. This particular error hasn't happened to me during a game against other players.
Can't say I've seen this against AI as I never play against them, but it has definitley happened when playing against players. Thanks for the link to the bug tracker.
