I think I might be a RTS nazi, because other then the pretty effects, I didn't really see much of note here.

Also, this looks really similar to Ancient Space, which is odd.

It's 3D. It's about the classic Capital v Capital v smaller Capital v whateverthehelltheywant fights.

It's in real-time. You can pause the game like in HW. The camera and selection controls look much more fluid than HW. I want this, if only to try it out.

    Frigate?
    Cruiser?
    Destroyer?

Also, if it's a deep-space RTS, why is it called Shallow Space? Riddle me that!

There will be a variety of ship class sizes, and sub classes – things like heavy cruisers and battle cruisers.

What if the whole point of it being called shallow space is to get you ask why it's called shallow space? 0.o

I like that there are multiple turrets, and that it appears a little bit more in-depth than Homeworld. I quite liked the attention to detail on the ships in Imperium Galactica 3/Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, and I would love for some/most of those (barring the more micro-heavy features) to be brought over to a RTS that slightly less tactical and closer to HW.

    Examples:
    • Every ship had small hangars for life pods, which opened and launched them when the ship was being evacuated. The life pods would then head for the nearest friendly ship.
    • Ships would try to evacuate when extremely damaged, and unless massive weaponry was used, it wasn't very often you actually destroyed a ship - they would just float abandoned.
    • Life pods would be fired on by enemy point defences if a ship was evacuated in range of the enemy ship
    • Ships had visible, individual names on their hulls - it made you feel bad when you put them in harms way, or when they were being evacuated.
    • You really felt bad when they were evacuated and the life pods were cut to ribbons.
    • The ship designs in general were excellent and realistic.
    • Ships would roll and maneuver to bring all their weapons to bear - so when one side cannon fired, the ship would roll so the other side, which was now re-loaded, could fire, and so on.
    • Ships had thrusters facing in all six axis, which all fired individually as appropriate when moving/turning.
    • The plasma cannons looked amazing, with a trail that only dissipated slowly.

+ one million for supporting mac and linux too. Getting this for sure if it is as promising as it looks. It has been a long while since I've played a deep space rts. I've so many games on my wishlist already, yet so little time to play these days :(

(although they do say that mac and linux will release after and not at the same time as the windows version)

Found out why it's called Shallow Space.
