POST CLOSED. Only way to mute or unmute yourself is by being host in a game lobby. Keep in mind never to spam the A button or you can mute yourself. Then the only way you would be able to take off the mute is to be host again -_-. So save yourself the trouble and just wait in lobby.
Re: Self Muting Glitch This may seem silly, but are you sure your mic didn't break? Anything in game shouldn't have any effect on party chat. Can you talk in other games?
Re: Self Muting Glitch This may seem silly, but are you sure your mic didn't break? Anything in game shouldn't have any effect on party chat. Can you talk in other games?[/quote] yeah my mic works. I can talk in halo reach. Also if i try to send voice messages i can check it and, I can hear myself. So no my mic is not broken and not muted from the headset. When I'm in Monday Night Combat lobby my name has a red mute icon like if i muted myself. I also tried my brothers mic which works and nothing  Well in this game this glitch supposedly got fixed. But I'm a perfect example to show how it hasn't been fixed.
Re: Self Muting Glitch Are you in the Xbox Fall Dash Update preview? That fact that you can't talk in party chat makes me want to say yes but that doesn't explain in-game chat. This is taken from the Title Update Blog/Thread: In any case just unmute yourself while in a lobby.
Re: Self Muting Glitch I would like to unmute myself in lobby but, that's not even an option. You should try to mute yourself and you'll find out you cant do it. Thanks for the reply guys i really appreciate the help.
I fell victim to the same self-muting bug pre title update. I'm still able to chat, but the mute icon appears beside my gamertag in game, in lobby, and in the dashboard party. I just downloaded the title update tonight, and am still unable to un-mute myself. Unfortunately, I'm showing up with a muted icon in other games as well! I'll try the "being host" fix mentioned above, see if it works, and report my findings.
I was unable to resolve the issue, and still have a permanent mute icon by my tag. I played through a Multiplayer Blitz match, and remained in the lobby afterward. The other players left, presumably leaving me as host. I still could not unmute myself. The lobby counted down and a new MP Blitz started with just me playing, and in-game I still could not unmute myself. I'm wondering if the TU, by disallowing players to mute themselves, has prevented me from resolving my pre-TU glitch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It never muted you, it just made it look like you did. I still see the mute icon in game and party chat, but my friends can hear me.
If it's showing you are muted other then just in the game then it's not a problem from the game. If you are in the XBox Fall Dashboard preview the problem can be rooted from there.
For sure, I still have voice chat ability. Its just annoying that every game I play now displays me as muted. It makes it tough to discern if any voice chat issues I have in other games (which I have from time to time) are related or isolated. Its unsettling that a MNC glitch has made an imprint on my gamertag that carries across games and can't be undone. I can only hope that the code affected is merely telling the icon to display or not, but I wouldn't know for sure. I'd think it would be a TRC issue, and need further investigation. In any case, I want my gamertag back to normal! p.s. I'm not running the Fall preview, and have seen the issue only since muting myself in MNC in the first couple weeks it came out. I wonder if a system reset would work?
