I thought it may be a good idea to at least add an option to see where the enemy commanders landed at the start of the game. This might help the amount of early skirmishes happening, since you don't have to send units around the entire planet just to find out where the are. Sometimes I feel like waiting until you have a spy plane to find out where your opponent is is too long, especially if you start with a bot factory/vehicle factory first.
Then start with an air factory...? I like that you don't know where people are. I always thought RTS games were a bit stupid because you know your enemy is in the opposite corner letting you prepare your defense or just rush your opponent with a small group of units really really early. I like scouting an intel, it's a part of the game that needs more depth not less.
This doesn't seem like a good feature. Having to find where your enemies are is part of the strategy. After you start your econ and build a couple of fabbers, the next thing you should do is send out scouts and look everywhere on the planet. Air works best for this. I usually find enemy units within a few minutes of the game start.
Scouting is an absolutely crucial component of the game - I'm sure there will be gamemodes in the future where you know where your enemy has started, but for the core game I'd rather it stays as it is. Also, don't forget this is a game of expansion. Where you start will be near enough inconsequential as you are expected to have multiple sprawling bases over an entire solar system!
+1 on cwarner's response. Scouting is an important part of any RTS game. Removing or negating it just makes for less interesting gameplay.
There's a like button for that! I'm a sucker for likes - they make me feel all warm and squishy inside.
