wonder if you have any counters. They sent in a good assassin to jump into enemy spawn and take out a wave of bots and then hide until the next one comes. I was a tank and had no way to catch the little bugger before he jumped away. It was quite effective. I was forced to play completely defensively to make sure our shields never went down. Have you guys encountered this? Can you think of any good counters?
Only counter is to babysit bots. Assassins, tanks, and supports are good classes to walk with bots from spawn to target. In this case, as a single tank on your team all you can do is walk with one wave of bots on one side, as you are just one player. Ask your team to help watch the bot lanes. Keeping assassins off bot lanes also shoots down juice, a double whammy to assassins. The assassin should be very killable, especially as a tank. She slashes two bots at most before eating a charge-deathblossom or charge-grapple (if they smokebomb a lot, go for the charge-grapple because it will catch them out of it more). AS AN ASSASSIN, this is a great idea though. Most effective on spunky, just go to the enemy bot spawn and skill them as they come out, hiding in cloak along the back wall after killing every wave. That either wins the game, or forces the enemy to constantly focus on the bot spawn and waste the nearby nub for a turret to watch over them.
I did something similar as tank. On Spnky Cola it isn't difficult to camp the bot spawn when the enemy team is properly distracted. Keeps a steady flow of your bots coming and generates money like a boss. After all, that nearest turret nub isn't designed for longshots :3
Im not completely inept. If this could have been dealt with by "killing the assassin" i would have. I won the match but my kd suffered because i was forced to baby sit bots. I am wondering if anyone has a clever ideas to protect your bots. In this case turrets got instantly juice raped... he really was a good assassin. the following round we were on the same team he went 40 and 3 (15 minute game)
Besides babysit bots, firebase and/or turret, and explosive round spray your bots to make the assassin keep his distance... Nope. I have JON muted so I don't have to put up with him, but I saw this quote and decided to post it here. Simply stop the assassin, and reguardless of the k/d or whatnot, you're doing your job and your team has a better chance to win. The objective of the game is to get bots from spawn to objective. Nobody said the enemy would make it easy, but if you walk with your bots to ensure they make it to the objective then you aren't making it easy for them either. Thus, a competitive match takes place, offensive and defensive attacks clash, strategies are used, somebody ends up winning, fun is had. Oh and if you don't like how they smokebomb-jump your charge attempts, have your railgun handy during a charge and when they smokebomb jump, grapple them. It grapples them out of their jump, and since their smokebomb is then on cooldown, you can kill them without escape. This is the closest thing to a trick available for you.
haha i applied a similar tactic with the assassin yesterday it was bad -ss in short i did this: bots > juice > turrets > Bots > my Bots come in > money ball down > harrash it to hell ( literally ) 95% of the money ball was done by me and the whole push towards there moneyball aswell at some point i also had them that far that they wouldn't leave the base anymore because of me wished i recorded it.. would have been such a bad -ss instruction video
Sounds like their team could have used a tank. If a tank had opposed you at the bot spawn, it would have been off limits, and the game wouldn't have went downhill... People eventually will learn hopefully to deal with assassins. It doesn't take much, any 2 of the following: deathblossom, charge, grapple, railgun shot, product grenade. Another trick for free, when an assassin gets done grappling and is about to flee with smokebomb, shoot a product grenade. Even if afterwards you charge and it doesn't land during smokebomb, they will be blind and might not make it up and away in the right direction. Imagine them landing feet away from you so you can just walk up and corner-deathblossom them. Same with assault, if you just get done with a grapple, you most likely are at the perfect aim to toss a headcrab. If they do nothing before their smokebomb, they will accept a free explosive hat, and you can laugh and even let that assassin live for another minute, knowing that he got tagged and will die any second.
Wow, old strat created way to long ago and easily countered. By good other good players atleast. You can do plenty of simple things. 1. (if its beginning game, get lvl 2 freeze trap) get your sniper to freeze trap the bot lanes or the bot spawn, headshot her. 2. kill their bots, no assassin in their bot lanes up front means your free assassins free to do the same thing and then run back knowing where she is to hold her with a grapple and call a teammate over to finish her. 3. Have your support hack the base turrets on any map but spunky in the beginning. The lvl 2 hack should reach one bot spawn and then she has only one possible lane to kill and has to run outside to get the others. 4. Easiest out of all of them.... have your assault bomb the retard off the map with the OP bomb! Its not hard at all and if you know how to play the assault even decently, you can keep up with that assassin either making her run away and coming back or dieing. DeS SmokeZ was here, showing the people how to play one at a time.
this is the reason i want uber to give more anti Sin and tank bots. Not because it is totally gamebreaking, but because it usually leads into overtime because of this. Not to say i'm not biased, I wanted Overtime GONE in the xbox version...
Scrambler and bouncer? Nothing funnier than spawning a scrambler with the blackjack wave, watch the assassin cry in agony as you walk up and "heck yeah!" her because she is mashing on a smokebomb currently in cooldown.
Can't assassins kill scramblers before any effects take place? I don't know for sure, nobody spawns them :?
If you're about 2 Tank shoulder-widths from a Scrambler, they'll start draining you. They're ridiculously weak, a Lunge should take out the pack, and you could try a cloak+dash combo to get the heck out. I find bot spawncamping is ridiculously easy on SpunkyCola and AmmoMule. It's somewhat effective on LazerRazor if you camp the spawn on the side. Gren3 and Steel Peel bot camping is a no-no. With Spunky, I simply smoke bomb after exiting via the lower left, wait less than half a second, cloak and jump. I wait behind some of the physical obstacles to recharge what I can, then camp away. With AmmoMule, it's basically just going through whichever path you want, then wreaking havoc after you know the place is clear..
A cloak-dash doesn't prevent you from eating a charge. Normally: Assassin lunges in at the bots, and as soon as an enemy notices they charge, they smokebomb, preventing retaliation (sometimes you can grapple after the charge with secondary weapon grapple) Scramblers: Assassin lunges at the bots, putting smokebomb at a cooldown of at least 3 seconds that the assassin usually doesn't anticipate. They go to mash smokebomb, are confused when it won't work, and stand there with a blank stare as a charge connects. Most assassins don't encounter scramblers enough to react to no smokebomb. This is at least for the lulz to do once or twice.
