Stable build works just fine. When I heard the news about the latest PTE build, I tried it and always get the same message. Tried re-downloading the launcher and installing anew... same result. Tried updating video drivers.. both Intel 4600 (unused) and Nvidia GTX 660.. no luck. DxDiag.txt attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hello, I've heard of this error before. It's a known issue that's being worked on. Here's what you can do: 1) Ctrl+C (copy) the entire stable folder, then Ctrl+V (paste) in the same location that the stable folder is in. 2) Rename the "stable (Copy 1)" folder to "PTE." After this, the launcher will only have to update the stable files. If you followed the steps correctly, the final result should look like this: - Main PA directory - PTE directory
So, what do I do when I follow the instructions, then ask the launcher to update the files and then the launcher crashes every time it gets up to a certain point like so:
Hello! My launcher is failing on update / download as well. I've enabled the stable stream/build exclusively. I've attached my DxDiag.txt below. It crashes while trying to finish 143. For me it's around 792MB/1.11GB that that it bombs. I've also attached the UberLauncherLog. It looks there are a handful of (MD5?) hashes and it just bombs at some point - this is the end of the log for that run of the launcher. I've tried restarting (derp) and I've also tried clearing out the whole PA folder and reinstalling - still happens. This is blocking me from playing PA, so it'd be great to have this resolved. Thank you so much!
Hello, Your Intel drivers could use an update: Code: Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 Driver Version: 9.17.10.3347 Driver Date/Size: 1/29/2014 23:02:36, 12617216 bytes Please follow the instructions below to update your drivers: If you still have the PTE folder, you can make a copy of it, rename the copy to "stable", and as a result, the launcher will only have to update the files.
Hi Kjotak, I'll go ahead and do that. Not sure if it helps but I have some kind of nvidia Geforce-with-Cuda card in here -there's a physical hardware switch that toggles between the stock integrated graphics and the NVidia driver (IIRC).
I went through Intel's driver update site and updated the graphics drivers. I think it's still a version behind what you posted, but it's what the workflow said was most recent. Still crashing. Should I try and manually download the drivers you linked to?
got same problem here. i just opened a thread for gtx670 here, win8.1.1, drivers uptodate, vc++ cred, etc XaT
I am having this same problem. I am attempting to download the game from scratch on a PC with SLI GTX 680 graphics cards. The computer was able to run older builds of PA, although I haven't touched it for a while. (Incidentally, I don't see how graphics drivers have a damn thing to do with downloading and hashing files, and downloading patches and applying them to files in a 2D launcher well before the game ever starts up... it's not even decompressed onto my hard drive yet. All I have is a bunch of stuff in a cache folder and a single 370 kb gz file in the PA stable folder.) Mine crashes every time it hits the ~750-850 mb mark whether you hit Play or Verify from the launcher. It then counts backwards about 100 MB and says it's downloading at an insane speed (727 MB/s!) and I get the Windows crash dialogue box.
Hello, A Dxdiag would be greatly appreciated. P.S. There are many similar/same reports that the launcher keeps crashing at a certain point with a Windows dialog box. This is a known issue and the developers are working on it, but I don't know when they will have a fix out. From what I know, this happens whenever the launcher tries to download the WHOLE game. From my experience, if the launcher just downloads an update to apply on the base game, it doesn't crash.
Hi kjotak109! Thanks for your help so far. I tried installing the drivers listed in your reply, but they gave me a different error when trying to install - I'm not getting the "not validated for this computer" error (didn't bother capturing what the actual error was). Given that the instructions are for a different error, and that, as @evilspoons mentioned, it's unlikely that downloaded/checksumming/assembling the files are probably unrelated to graphics drivers, I don't want to risk mucking something up and force-installing the latest drivers. I'll wait for the fix to the launcher to be released. Still can't play the game :-( But c'est la vie, and all that.
