    I'm a little confused.

Would this be something that prevents players from attacking until a certain point in the game?

    If so, then no.

We'll automatically have that when we can spawn on different planets.

Maybe a mod. But it'd be a mod that I'd never use.

Rush timers in supcom games are basically containment areas that you can't venture out of for a set amount of time.

Feels terribly arbitrary, in my opinion.

The best solutions are to tailor games based on the map layout; for example, putting players on exact opposite locations on the globe for 1v1s, and altering planet sizes for those kinds of starts for the optimum balance between enabling early(ish) aggression and preventing an anticlimactic rush-win.

And this works as an extension of that mentality. If better information for players is needed, pre-game notices like "This planet is too small for the given number of players, expect early aggression" might help.

Either way whether its a timer or containment area this idea will fail.

With a timer, you could just send units and camp at the enemy base until timer is run down making no difference to rush strategies really.

With a containment zone, this will definately fail for large maps and small maps alike since it restricts more expansion than rushing...really not what people want in this game at all.

    Definitely no.

If the game will be well balanced (and I have no reason to believe otherwise) there will be no need for such a restriction.

No. Expanding is too important to hold it back. As a mod or option - fine, but I won't use it.

Assuming this is Supcom Rush Timer Zone.

I like rush timers, but it should definitely only be an option.

So long as the area is sizable enough it'd let both players get an economic foothold before the game starts. All rush timers do is allow both players to start with more resources/buildings/units of their choice.

Quick question. Has anyone ever played the no-rush zone in Supcom... and liked it?

I find that a big enough map provides all the no rush someone really needs.

This is sort of what the commander is there for. Use him.

The whole TA design is around anti-rushing to encourage large scale battles later.

Bit sad seeing the devs discount a gameplay option straight off the bat.

Implementation would be tricky however. .. you need a way to restrict unit movement and building placement without being ridiculous. RoNs territory system, and even Civs territory system, both work quite well in that regard

Pretty sure you answered your own complaint there.

Features don't implement themselves, so if the devs aren't' enamoured with a particular one, why would they divert their attention to it over others?
