So a moon was just orbiting by and I was at a zoom level that made the main body invisible but the surface rocks visible as they flew by. It looked really cool, and now I think it would be cool for asteroid fields to be present in solar systems. As in really small rocks just floating around out there, purely for visuals. They could also be created when planets collide and maybe destroyed by entering atmosphere. I dunno, just thinking out loud.
Asteroids... huh... You should go look at the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... ceNs#at=84
Well duh, I mean small ones that don't affect gameplay, but are just aesthetically pleasing. I'm talking about the potential to cram some other space junk into solar systems to make them seem more alive. Stuff too small to weaponize or colonize.
I like the idea of adding to the ambiance but I think there are more pressing things that need to be worked on first. Also what is the cutoff between a rock that is just there for decoration and one that you can actually land on and/or do stuff with?
Well there are certainly more pressing matters, but that doesn't mean discussion is unwarranted I think the difference should be fairly obvious by size differential. The small rocks we already see on planet surfaces are about the size I think would look nice in large clusters.
DUDE, I had the same thing just happen to me! And now I see what made you come here and post. and "really cool" is a bit weak in my opinion, it was breathtaking, a revelation, it looked fukin AWESOME that's what!
