So when i build something on the orbit launcher, it lunches the second it's done the rocket flys all over the place does a flip before getting into space just to come crashing down later.... Lol wat? Also I don't see why I build a transport just to have it lunched into space so I can land it to pick up my commander right after... Once I build it, it lunches before I pu anything in it, stays in orbit, then I can fly it back down to the surface to pick up my commander just to fly back into space... I think if I'm bored and it keeps this up I'll post a video Moderator Edit: Edited title for appropriateness.
Yeah, it looks like the rocket tries to stick to a particular path, but keeps overshooting everytime. Kinda fun to watch though.
It launches the satelite and the rocket that lifts it crashes. Its an aesthetic effect. Your satelite is up in space now, go get it.
Well it is a bit weird for the orbital lander unit, since it flyes down to pick things up later without having any difficulties regaining orbit (carrying more weight even).
I'm assuming they'll be fixing up a lot of stuff with the rockets in later patches, another example is that building orbital fighters just puts the model for the fighter over the top of the rocket base, completely disconnected, and then magically floats up into the sky. Really awesome effect though, i love the feeling of sending radar and generator satelites up via rocket. I also really like that traveling between planets isn't as the crow flies, it's all... slingshotty.
Why do landers get launched, only to come back down right afterwards? I think they should be built at a different factory.
I would like it if they worked more like in the concept video. (Its near the ground, picks up a unit, attaches itself to a rocket at the orbital launcher afterwards, lunches).
I actually liked that little detail. It makes the booster feel like it is a thing. Maybe that's planned to be implemented yet? I'd certainly prefer the one direction small unit booster (locked to a planet unless expensively recalibrated - say, the landing area might need to be launched and re-erected on a different planet?)-approach as default mode of assault / transportation between planets. It'd ensure annoying micro-management like taking a sole constructor to other planets only to build a factory and move on (to get as many planets as possible early on) isn't going to be a thing. Same for doing the same with a combat unit that tries to follow and destroy the constructor and its factories. Perhaps let the orbital lifter be a ferry/assault vehicle for multiple and big units - a late-game unit. Very, very expensive to build), slow to set up for launch, tough and lightly armed, but useful when you want to drop right in someone's base or move significant construction power, or such.
