Reviews on steam

Hi Everyone!

Valve seems to have launched a public review system on steam.

I'd recommend that everyone who purchased PA via Steam Early Access to go and visit the store page and leave a couple lines with your opinions.

Let's help our fellow gamers decide if this is a game for them or not!

This can't be good. I mean the system not the fact of.

Yeah, I'm not sure if this is moderated at all. I left a review for PA, but it seems to be bugged as I set it to public but on the page it still says it's limited to friends. Weird.

It is well enough with good intent.

I mean, leave the review you feel, and explain it. I will leave a good one, but will explain the game missing features but will praise dev aknowledgement of it since it is in beta.

I did pretty much the same.

It is a good idea because to simple minded common gamers the rating number makes or damns a game within their friend circle, but it is also important to flat out let people know what the problems ingame are. That way nobody buys the game and runs into unexpected problem that sends them looking for refund.

Also, i do not technically have this game on steam yet... i will do it after work lol. Need to get a key generated. Won't dl it, prefer the uber client.

Sadly, you need at least 5 minutes in-game before you can write a review. It makes sense, but it's a pain...I left one there as well however, letting people know the good, the broken and the coming features.

Sigh... i will play one game on it tomorrow. Then i will uninstall it like a bad kid uninstalls SMNC.

I don't get it. I've probably played more on it than i have gta5 (play it occasionally)

See, this is exactly why it's a bad idea. It's in Beta. Nothing is broken, it's just not implemented correctly yet.

That would mean it's broken. It's a term meaning that the item is in the game but does not work as intended/or at all. Things that are broken/game breaking will get fixed. But it's good to let people know that there are things like that in the game so they don't buy it and then freak out because something doesn't work correctly.

That just helps everything in general including complaints and more "I just played your game and..." threads that tend to clutter up the forum.

it doesn't speak for the whole though. as many have it on uber client and can't review.

If they want they can register the game on steam, play it, write the review and uninstall steam.

But if they don't have it on steam, then why would they care about the steam reviews? Conceivably they do not use steam.

Probably to grow the user base.

I think Reviews, Consumer and professional, should be only allowed to review once the game is gold and released. As much as I like to see the positive reviews, I don't want to see it in a "official" format that people might assume that its a finished product and open to speculation. They do mention that it is in alpha/beta in the comments but still. Someone could easily write a negative review based on a feature that doesn't exist later.

There should be an automatic disable for that review section... at least in my mind.

I also find Garat's shameless plug funny.

Couldn't be any worse then Metacritic.

Everything but the truth, I'm a heavy steam user, it's my favorite platform, I wish my origin and Uplay games were on there. Yet I could not have seen myself with the steam edit of PA. I chose the Uber edit, like the majority on this forum for many reasons.

Second : the switch can be done to steam easy, however it is more or less irreversible. To change back you have to get a hold of uber customer service and somehow get them to switch your account back.

I wouldn't take such a risk just for a review.

Last: we don't know what the case is yet, this new review system on steam may turn out to be just another comment section nobody looks at, it may turn out people and game critics use it as the word of the prophet. who knows.

I prefer to be safe than sorry, so I want a say in these comments.

you could compare this to women's rights in Saudi Arabia (rightly so as they are changing) people who have the rights determined that they have no say. that does not mean that they don't deserve a say, in truth they actually have the rights as well, and as such get a say as well.

here people on steam and uber alike have the game, this does not mean the people on uber have no say just because they're on uber.

I got PA via steam. Why is it better through the uber launcher?
