I know little about modding, but I hope something like this is simple and maybe can help me mod something else I want into the game.

Simply put. The color that is selected in the lobby screen decides your team color as well as your uber cannon shot color.

Initially I thought it would be cool to have it as a secondary color be the shot color but that was recently taken out.

Hope i wrote this right, anyway if there is any questions, post away!

This MIGHT be hard. It depends on whether the effect is a json effect or a shader.

The color can be changed by editing media/pa/effects/specs/uber_proj_trail.pfx in a text editor. I don't think we can change this during a game though.

This is the kind of thing I've been wanting to add support for, but it's not currently possible.
    Fr33Lancer and LavaSnake like this.

Really editing game files at runtime!? I'd love that! I'd be able to make my custom unit names mod so much better with something like that!

How often does the engine load the effects? Ie. if a mod were to create a shadowing file while in the lobby, would that work? And would it work for consecutive games as well or is a complete client restart needed?

When I played around with effects I had to restart the client. I think they get loaded into the engine on start.
