Keybinding is often strongest, when you can have multible different armies in the same frontier and which are different unit types. In Warcraft 3 I often had melee in 1, ranged in 2, magic in 3 and artillery in 4. Of course it was more micro intensive game, but keybindings for units would still be useful.

Is PA you might want to have for example: Infernos 1, Bolos 2, Dox 3, Combat Fabbers 4, artillery units 5, AA Fighters 6, Bombers 7.

However, the problem very often is that untis die so fast and you have multible frontiers where you have fighting. It is not just worth the time to keybind one army in one frontier to bultible keynumbers, becouse they might die very fast or you have to move to other frontier very quickly. So you never do this and improve your gameplay, thus your units die easily and controlling is a problem.

Solution would be to have Mod which would split and keybind selected units to pre-set keybindings.

So you have a massive army moving towards enemy base. You select all army, click the mod, and army is under your keybindings and now you are ready to wreck havoc among your enemy with precision in the past only reserved for Elodea! Once army is either destroyed itself or the enemy base, you move to another battlefrontier to command your forces, again getting them easily to your command.

Some idea how it could maybe work (no programming experience what-so-ever...):

    • At first mod could keybind all army to, let's say number 9. Then it would select 9 and select only certain type of units, binding them to 1. Then it would again select 9, select next type of units and bind them to 2. This would be the default process.
    • Could the mod know how many units it would select? After selecting 9 and Unit type, it would select only certain pre-set number of them. After this it would de-select this group from original 9. By repeating this process, you could have one unit type divided among multible numbers, thus making it easier to divide one big army to equally diverse multible armies. Especially when sending Units to their mission from the base this ability would be very useful, but also when surrounding enemy base which has unit disadvantage. Also when you have a big clump of fabricators, you could easily divide them to multible building projects where they still work in groups.
    • You would need some settings UI to define what units and how many go to which number.
    • You could set multible different "sets" which you could use. Will make it easy to switch binding armies of different kinds and fabricators during one game.
