    Hello beautiful people,

I was thinking it would be awesome if we could set up "Cities", be they wrecked or inactive or hostile (with no AI), in the System Editor. This would give us spots to fight over (like the base in the middle of Seton's Clutch), and would make it feel like we were entering into an ongoing war.

Think how awesome it would be to land on a battle-worn world and rush to find a strategic position among half-destroyed defenses and ruins. I'd love to be able to set up such scenarios.

In addition to this, the ability to Capture or Resurrect neutral buildings and wrecks would add an extra level of strategic depth to the game as we rushed at T1 to fight over a T2 Energy Factory, or inactive T2 Tower guarding some Metal Spots. These two tools don't seem to be hugely complicated (one reverses the destruction of a wreck, the other transfers control of a unit), and they offer great bang for their buck in terms of gameplay.

This could conceivably be open to abuse if somebody gave a spot they knew to be a spawn zone a load of wrecks. However such abuse would be very difficult as (I believe) potential spawn zones are given to random players, so there would be no real way to guarantee yourself an economic or tactical advantage in the editor.
The foolproof solution is to let people choose their own spawns, in my opinion (Full-Planet Landing), but of course people then have to be trusted not to land right in the middle of that cluster of 20 Metal Spots..

Keep up the good work Uber!

If it turns out to be done someday, that will mean placing any kind of terrain manually would be possible. And that's a good thing.

We mostly need "the hooks" to create the planet editor.

I agree - this would be the first step on that road though, as it's essentially adding build tools to the Editor.

If you could set neutral buildings to appear or not to appear I don't see the problem of including them...

    Anyways +1 to the idea.
