There are plenty of people who seem to think that the KD ratio is boss on this game, and I think I know why. KD is shown on the stats screen during play, and at the end, this makes the KD seem important, as everyone can see who has done what Pro Kills (in in many cases associate to good play). Because of games like Halo and COD the KD ratio mindset is always there, so when players see this stat I bet you the majority do not want a negative ratio therefore they concentrate on killing Pros. My suggestion would be to remove KD stats from the in-game screens and either display different game stats - Turrets made/upgraded and Bots Killed - or show only gold earned
I'll second this. Also there are lots of stats that can't be tracked by mere kills. Like most enemies harassed, bested decoy, best base defender, best bot pusher. Also stats like bots spawn and turrets build/upgraded should be more predominate.
That works too and I recognize as a video game that works with ones and zeros in the counting system and can't make judgment calls, it will be impossible to ever track those things.
It doesn't hurt that things like bot kills are on page 2. Some people I've played with don't even know how I knew how many bots I've killed. Still, obsession with KDR probably won't go away, period. There's a lot of bonuses simply for not dying, but this might help. Maybe.
What if we changed the kill/death ratio into amount earned from kills? Then if money earned from bot kills was right next to it, people would realize that bot kills earn more money (of course I don't know if that's true or not).
It's mostly true. Individually, bot kills earn more compared to the effort to kill them. The problem is, you don't get streaks, I'm pretty sure you don't get assists, and you're likely to run into other pros. A Blackjack isn't really dangerous unless he's whittling off the little health you have left after a pro encounter. This is why there's such synergy between Sniper and K/D whores. Most maps allow you to kill in relative safety. not saying everyone plays that way, but it might have the opposite effect on some people.
